Martial law, forced quarantines, and shutting down huge sectors of the economy isn't just something you should do lightly.

Especially when about 2 weeks ago there were only dozens of cases that seemed contained.



Trump should have shut down travel from Europe maybe 4-5 days ago. That and our government is garbage and testing quickly or adapting like a private company would. Trump could have maybe done some more shoring up the CDC as well. Those are the only legit critiques I have at the moment.

I don't know nor have I ever claimed to be an expert. I actually tend not to make predictions about anything.

My main gripe has been off the wall hysterics like the Biopreparat 100% kill rate crap, the 4-5 billion dead crap, or the stuff that OldAg89er was posting everyday that eventually got him a time out. Some people have gone out of their way to find the worst stuff they can, often just random tweets, stuff from 4/8Chan, Reddit, etc. and then blow a fuse if anyone dares to question it.

As I said earlier, if people pulled the throttles back a little bit, it would do everyone a lot of good.

I forgot to post the rest of the story, he was taken to the hospital after the game and is being tested for cv.

This is what has me the most concerned - we are doing the travel / hx as well and there is growing concern that our RN / APP / PA are at risk and in limited supply. I was hoping we would add contact with someone who was sick and then mask them at entry. If not then do we mask everyone?

Some thing that I noticed cruising around in the Johns Hopkins tracker is the length of time from diagnosis to recovery. Seems to be in excess of 10 days in most cases. I've been knocked out by the flu for maybe 1 or 2 days, but I dont think I've ever been out for 3 consecutive days in a row my entire life (for work or school).

I guess it also depends on how they gauge recovery. Do you have to be re-tested and cleared? Or do you just call back and say you are finally good? Or do they just confirm your case, you go home and self-quarantine, and they remove your active case after 14 days (presumably the length of the "all clear no longer communicable" determination).

10-15 days is pretty bad. I have no doubt my employer would be OK with me taking the time off if i was diagnosed with COVID19, but a lot of people dont have that luxury.

Shutting down the economy puts people at risk too. Hysteria, shortages, and loss of income is just as dangerous as the virus itself.

We were one of the first countries to stop all travel from China. Until the explosion of cases Iran (which I think we block travel form anyways) and now Italy, the growth rate wasn't crazy enough to warrant shutting down all travel. Like I said, Trump waited probably 3-4 days too long for the Europe ban.

Its an airborne virus that spreads as easy as a cold. This thing will never be fully contained, the goal was always slowing the rate of transmission while not causing mass panic.

It's hard to say because it likely varies by reporting entity. But they're probably saying you're recovered when you no longer test positive, which will be longer than youd be symptomatic.

I'm not on the stop everything train, but I do think it's more serious than it was a month ago. I was never one to think this thing would be totally contained because I thought it was impossible the moment it popped up in China.

I just think we have somewhat screwed ourselves as far as quelling fears with not being even half as aggressive with testing in the last month.
