Regular face masks (paper/cloth) aren't really useful. They are designed to keep the wearer from sending droplets out into the air and onto others. They're not anywhere close to air tight, and they allow way too much through to really be effective.

The N/P/R95 or N/P/R100 are better, but still not 100% as a virus can still get through due to its small size.

100% protection means something designed for a NBC environment, or something which is positive pressure around your face.

Who here is demanding 100% protection? I keep seeing this over and over. People keep asking questions like "can wearing a mask help prevent someone from contracting coronavirus?" And then the "well ackchually" crowd shows up to tell everyone that N95 masks don't actually create a hermetically sealed chamber around the wearer, so they're basically worthless.

This is complete nonsense. Wearing a mask, even a paper mask, can make you *less likely* to contract a viral infection. How much less likely? Depends on a whole host of factors. But quit acting like face masks are pointless and anyone who wears one is stupid.

This is seriously the equivalent of saying "well covering my mouth with my hand when I cough doesn't catch all of the germs, so I might as well get right in your face and spray cough spittle on you."
