If you believe those numbers, sure. And you can't confirm what you don't test!

ok, so the numbers are bogus and they are not testing.

Then how are we drawing any valid conclusions at all?

The 1st case of the virus showed up in the US on Jan 19, 1.5 months ago. If our numbers are right, we now have 233 cases.

Italy had a jerk symptomatic pakistani migrant working in both a restaurant preparing and handling food for hundreds daily and also delivering Chinese at night. He refused to self quarantine.

Yes, that could/will happen here too (gotta love our cultural enrichment of 3rd world muslims; thanks Obama) but let's not pretend it was just a massive spread through the air without some help.

Our numbers aren't reflective of actuality. We have 200+ confirmed cases. Thats an underestimation, and probably an enormous one.

The first cases in early January might have been contained. It's clear that this ceased to be the case several weeks ago, if it ever was.

The reality in this country is people sick with this before they know they are sick with it are going to be making your meals, delivering your groceries, checking you out etc because they can't afford to stay home. Would you make the choice to leave your family potentially homeless in a couple of months vs toughing it out as long as you can work?

We can say that choice is selfish, but are you going to pay their rent?

There are some really hard choices that might need to be made by the government in the upcoming few months if they really want to contain this.

Per fox radio he cancelled that, didn't want to "get in the way of their work"

It looks like the CDC doesn't have the manpower or equipment to even perform the needed number of tests. Not that they don't want to, I think they just don't want to admit that they physically can't.

I hope Trump (or Pence?) steps in. What the **** is the CDC doing?

The CDC is being "government".

This makes me really look forward to Medicare for All!

F/ck! This is where I would normally say "and people want to nationalize healthcare and put the federal government in charge?!?" However, countries with socialized medicine are responding better than we are to this situation. This is pretty f/cking appalling. Way to go, CDC.

Go for it.

Will you pay the rent of the 9 dollar an hour fast food worker as you hit their Drive thru?

Is it really selfish to want a home when you don't know you have it? You just have a cough?

I went to a film festival last night.
It was awesome.
Three more movies today because a friend can't make it and gave me her ticket to one more

Just pointing out the reality, you can't decide to live in public and shop and eat and have fun and not expect those on the minimum wage scale not to work. They have a reality too. And that is having a roof over their head

If we want them to stay home, something has to be done so they are not homeless in May

Vendor who sold concessions at Seattle XFL game tests positive for coronavirus

Quote:

A vendor who sold concessions at CenturyLink Field during the February 22 Seattle Dragons XFL game has tested positive for COVID-19, but authorities say it is unlikely the stadium employee spread the coronavirus to anyone at the game.

"We have worked with the employee and the operator of the stadium, First and Goal, to evaluate potential exposures at the Feb. 22 Seattle Dragons game, and we've determined that the risk of infection to attendees from this person was low," a spokesman for Seattle's public health department told the Seattle Times. "We are following up with a few co-workers with close contacts of the employee at the February 22nd game to provide guidance on appropriate precautions"

And yet, from another post in this thread:

Quote:

Italy had a jerk symptomatic pakistani migrant working in both a restaurant preparing and handling food for hundreds daily and also delivering Chinese at night. He refused to self quarantine.

So how is it the pakistani migrant in Italy shared with customers yet the person selling concessions at a football game likely didn't?

They also ramped up testing so people could quarantine. We aren't even testing enough of our Healthcare professionals.

Also, if I'm understanding you correctly, you are comfortable with the average American properly executing a self quarantine? I sure don't

My work sent out an email saying no travel outside of 100 miles without manager approval (most of us in our office make drives further than that to see our customers) and if possible any work meetings should be done virtually. Most of my time right now is spent working from home anyways if I am not travelling but this means they just want me chilling at home

Well, since you didn't like my previous post explaining it here it is; Pakistani muslim migrant jerk.

Quote:

The man believed to be coronavirus patient zero in Italy is a Pakistani migrant refused to self-isolate after testing positive for the virus and continued to deliver food.
Health authorities asked the man to quarantine himself at his home in the Pavia area for two weeks, but he ignored the request and continued to work at a Chinese restaurant.

He then compounded the risk of spreading the virus by making home deliveries of Chinese food.
Authorities were alerted to the situation and the military intervened to return the man to his home.

"The Carabinieri have been busy reconstructing all the movements of the young man, in order to identify as many people as possible with whom he came into contact. In the meantime, the military has closed the Chinese restaurant," reports Free West Media.

The migrant now faces up to 3 months in jail for failing to self-isolate under article 650 of the Italian penal code.

For people that are showing symptoms, yes it's selfish.

But unless you have self-quarantined yourself, how can you say people who were showing no symptoms of something going about their day is selfish?

I'll need to find the article I read, but there are large Chinese communities across Italy where they come to work and assist the fashion industry.

My guess is that before Wuhan locked down, a lot of them made it back to Italy (plus others who also got out early). It was in Italy while we were still talking about the Chinese doctor that said he got it through his eyes...before anyone was locking down travel from China.
