Vaccine testing will likely take close to a year before they can be assured it 1) works, and 2) is safe. So even if these early vaccines are effective, it will be this time next year before they are really available, most likely.

We have it here in WA state with 2 confirmed fatalities. But more worrisome are WA state's multiple other cases that the authorities are not certain how or who was the carrier.
Were you this worried about the flu? Or other more deadly diseases? Just curious.

Sweet. We've lived in New Braunfels for 3 years now and have never gone to the mall (except Whiskey Cake @ La Canterra) and last saturday we went to North Star.

Awesome. Excellent. Great.

None of that is true or a problem. People are living their lives going to restaurants going to church going to baseball games.

Again, the pearl clutching it's because they're trying to bring Trump down with this because nothing else has worked. Trump has done an awesome job preparing for this as has the administration and it's no different from one another and ministration would do. These people are pathologically ****ed up in the head

I personally don't understand the mentality of - "Oh geez I've been quarantined for this deadly disease so the FIRST THING I'll do when I get out is make a bee line STRAIGHT for the most effective spot to spread disease on the planet."

Even if given a clean bill of health, I go home and chill a few days instead of crop dusting a packed mall.

What if he had an HSA and hadn't reached his deductible?

And you really want to wait 9 months for an MRI?

The same people who are criticizing the CDC want government run health care? How moronic is that??

And get back to me if this thing hits critical mass and see how overwhelmed the NHS will be then. They don't have near the resources on a per capita basis that we do to deal with this.

Moreover, there will be some aggressive triage in how they treat elderly, sick, etc who come down with this because nationalized healthcare means rationing.

I'd go to the strip club. If I could survive COVID-19, I could survive anything they have in those places.

I don't give a **** it was ClayTravis who said it it was 100% true. I'm sorry the truth upset you.
Multiple things can be true:
  • The seasonal flu has killed way more people than Coronavirus so far (no surprise due to patient zero being recent)
  • There is a real risk of Coronavirus killing a lot more people than the flu based on the current estimates of mortality and infectiousness being higher than the seasonal flu
  • The end death toll of Coronavirus may be relatively minor in part due to the preventative actions taken (this doesn't mean the preventative actions were overreactions).

To be fair though, she's probably only living there and being sick because she's angry that Trump didn't get removed from office, which at its core is still the only reason you care about this. I mean, there's no other real reason that a rapidly spreading novel infectious agent could matter to anyone.

I hope I'm not wrong, but it seems every few years we get all these scares and then it ends up being not the end of the world things people think. I do think this is very politicized, though.

I wouldn't wish this on anyone, but I do believe it's overblown. We'll see.

Nowhere near the end of the world, but C19 is tracking towards being worse than the seasonal flu. Mortality rate is still pretty low, but contagion/spread is high. It does seem to be pretty risky for older people, so alot of us with older parents are (rightfully) concerned.

State Food and Drug Administration continues to approve new coronavirus detection products

Recently, the State Drug Administration expedited emergency approval of 4 new coronavirus detection products from 3 companies, including 2 chemiluminescence antibody detection reagents and 2 fluorescent PCR nucleic acid detection reagents, further enriching the detection methods of new coronaviruses. This improves the supply chain of testing reagents have been adapted/expanded to further serve the needs of epidemic prevention and control. Up to now, a total of 10 new coronavirus nucleic acid detection reagents and 4 antibody detection reagents have been approved.
The State Drug Administration will continue to expedite the emergency approval of corresponding products.
Bold- Unsure of how to translate that, sorry. Could also translate to "2 Chemical luminescence antibody check reactions."

CFDA- China Food Drug Agency, new agency, replace the old soviet styled food safety apparatus.
Chemiluminescence antibody detection reagents is correct.

They've got an antibody that binds to the viral RNA (presumably), which has some engineered catalytic activity to give off photons which can be measured. More light, more viral RNA present.

Alternatively they may have engineered some genetically modified reagent that has viral RNA spliced into RNA for a light emitting protein like luciferase (lightning bug ass protein) that when it gets transcripted into protein generates light that can be detected.

To be fair, you were completely off about what the market was going to do last week. I believe you said 2 days in the red, one in the green, another in the red, and the last in the green as some sort of way of the Fed controlling stock market panic which didn't end up happening at all. You may very well be right this time around, though.

Went back to Hyvee

All the toilet paper is now gone.
Plus, all the turkey jerky and Perrier. Who wipes out sparkling water?
I got several 12 packs of club soda instead.

Did get more cereal though and some shelf stable milk.

Kinda crowded for an early afternoon. Most of the bananas were gone too. But those don't last long.
I do not want people to be very agreeable, as it saves me the trouble of liking them a great deal.

I think the assumption by some also is that if you catch it, you die.

It is not. Severity of infection and personal health of those getting it determine that. Many will just suffer cold or flu symptoms.

I do get that this is unknown, but with the exception of the 1918 Influenza, I think it is manageable without panic. We've come a long way medically in 102 years.
