I just watched the clip... it was clear that the POTUS was referring to what he believes is the politicizing of the virus... "their new hoax". It certainly did not appear that he was calling the virus itself a hoax, but rather how he thinks the Democrats have turned into a political battle cry as to how his administration is failing. The idea that he is calling the virus itself a hoax is rather bizarre given everything else he has stated and how it gives this context.

FYI, I am not a Trump apologist. I will probably not be voting for him in the upcoming election if there is a legit Libertarian candidate. So I'm not biased.

EDIT: I do find it rather bad timing he went out of his way to state that the US hasn't lost anyone and then less than 24 hours later a death is reported.
