But not near as spectacular as the the fantasized SK numbers. Also, if all those that have died in the small sample in SK are over 70; then even 25% of that small sample would not be alarming. This virus is killing the very old and infirm. If you are under 70; there is about as much chance of having an issue with this as with driving to work.

Why do people keep saying hand sanitizer is useless... I'm sure it's not quite as effective as dunking your hands in boiling soapy water for 60 seconds but from what I understand it still kills viruses.

CDC has been a failure. Woman had the virus for 7 days in California but the CDC did not test because "she had not been to china". So guess what? None of the doctors or nurses that have been caring for her have taking ANY precautions.....

WE are just like China. Trying to prevent panic by slow rolling the data or just pure incompetence? Or both?

The CDC/FDA testing snafu is extremely frustrating, but according to the press release the medical team at UC Davis appears to have followed approriate PPE protocol (once the patient was received from the other hospital) to mitigate the risk of transmission.

Why is this the responsibility of the CDC? I would think the primary care Dr would be the one to determine what, if any, tests to run?

Soap doesn't kill germs, it just makes you extra slippery and the germs roll off with the water.

Makes sense that using just water, which is already slippery and is running over your hands, would do better than rubbing a small dollop of hand sanitizer over your hands.

With sanitizer, most people don't use very much, and it's not strong enough, plus it just dries on your hands, you aren't actually removing any germs from your hands; rather, just hoping to kill them.
