More sad news 3rd party through by American Aggie friend who is fluent in mandarin and still has friends in China from his time living there.
The Dr. he knows has been put in charge of isolation at a hospital outside of the hard hit area, I think they have a few dozen suspected COV patients at this time. Medical staff normally can access foreign medical documents through an officially sanctioned VPN (but still monitored by the party). In the past few days that has been taken away. They can't access the latest news, and they weren't aware of the need for eye protection. Medical professionals are still wearing surgical masks not n95 stuff. My friend had to tell them that it was necessary to protect the eyes and send screenshots of the papers so that they could access it. On top of this the Dr. is working 18-20 hour days and has not been allowed To leave the hospital this week, sleeping on a couch.
As we all surmise the party is more interested in keeping power than protecting its people including medical staff. How many will die so that they can keep the people under their thumb for a while longer?

According to this chart, which seemingly accurately predicted the next 7 day window....a lot of us are doomed by the end of March.

1) The elderly
2) Smokers.
There's far less #2 here than in China.
The air pollution is so bad in China that, by default, everyone is a smoker.
