China announced yesterday they are only testing people if they demonstrate symptoms (fever, cough, etc.).

Anyone not showing symptoms, even if they had contact with a confirmed case, is no longer counted as a suspected case by China.

Uhmm, yeah the wording is disturbing on that particular announcement.

What's so frustrating with this whole Coronavirus thing is how little the CDC is saying about the virus and how it spreads and how deadly it may be? They have to know by now what's going on, you would think ? There's been plenty of time to study the US people that are infected.. also people infected in the EU and other developed countries .. they simply are not saying much to this point

I believe what I read was that confirmed cases that were asymptomatic would be removed from confirmed numbers. I don't remember seeing anything about the suspected cases. Why would someone be a suspected case if they did'nt show symptoms? I could see you being quarantined if you had close contact but not suspected.

I pray that the flights stop until 24 days after the Chinese say that it is all good

Yep. I think they are wanting to take more time to study and digest the numbers before coming out with something publicly. Which I think is a good thing, provided they are taking the proper steps privately. Nothing good can come from the CDC releasing premature findings, good or bad.

CDC actually came out and said today they are 100% certain numbers coming out of China are vastly underestimated.

They are shifting from containment activities to getting the health system ready for what's about to hit without the economy crashing and panic ensuing.

Dr Gottleib has been great through all this. His absolute serious in not downplaying anything is concerning. Wish he was still running the FDA but sure he is still very connected with those in the know.

What do the experts on virology/infectious disease/etc. recommend having in your possession to prevent or help deal with a potential outbreak?

I'm not really that concerned but have two little kids and don't mind being over-prepared. What would be a good starter kit?

Gloves
Antibacterial hand sanitizers
Masks
Bleach
Water
Medicine?
Antioxidants or any immune boosters?

I don't really understand why/how you would send in a "quarantine officer" who wasn't adequately equipped with PPE for the situation.

Or why the quarantine officer wouldn't do everything to protect himself

Agree. These folks need to be wearing respirators that fit tightly around the nose and mouth, with cartridge filters, plus chem lab type googles.

Anything else is just asking to get it, if you have to be around it.

So many dozens of pages ago, there was material posted about how this virus is a RNA virus.

There was material posted saying the virus therefore doesn't allow the creation of antibodies (to whatever degree) enough to immunize a recovered patient from being infected again.

Where the hell are we on this? Are some of these 14-24 day spreaders cases of re-inoculation? Are people shedding this **** in cycles in some instances? Is this the big secret the Chinese are not divulging?

Anyone have info on re-infection rates or theories or science? I feel like this part is being overlooked. (Not being alarmist. Just wanting to know. It was brought up previously)

A week or to ago there was the claim they were trying to combine corona with HIV. Get corona and a comprised immune system.

I keep seeing people talk about N95, but I thought this was established a while ago. N95 is useless. You need P100. P100's also very common. I grabbed two masks and extra filters from my local Lowes this weekend.
