I will say again that I am not disagreeing with your point, just saying to cut the guy some slack b/c he started this thread and has kept it going with numerous updates. Its entertaining if nothing else (sometimes in some of the same ways as the Qanon thread, but that's okay).

If you click the twitter feed for BNO news most of their posts over the last week or so have been about the coronavirus outbreak, and one of the best sources following the virus, providing facts and sources. So it would be somewhat natural to tie a post from that source about unresponsive homeless in LA to the virus.

Maybe just do a little research instead of derailing

Interestingly there is an outbreak going on in Carribean cruise right now. Cruise started Feb 2. 124 of 3000 passengers are sick (probably norovirus, not identified yet)

I do water and air quality permitting all over the US as part of my job and know well just how strict the water quality standards in the US are in comparison to the rest of the world.

It's one thing to claim it's not the Yangtze but it's quite another to make a claim that it's less polluted than US rivers with zero data to back that up. There are regular algae blooms on the Yangtze River and that river is responsible for 55% of the global total of oceanic plastic. The Chinese don't give a damn about the environment and they prove it every day with the massive ecological disaster they are creating. Standards are meaningless in that country.

That was the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland, Ohio. There is also an Ohio River but I don't think it has ever caught fire. At least I hope not. I grew up swimming in it.

Oddly, the Cuyahoga caught fire several times from oil slicks getting ignited however the Ohio River is indeed the most polluted river in the United States.

Depends on the metric. The Ohio has the most pollutants from tracked sources released into it (agricultural runoff is NOT tracked), but it's also the second largest river in the country by volume behind the Mississippi. Which means it can handle a lot of inputs without exceeding acceptable levels of pollutants. There are a lot of smaller rivers that have much dirtier water than the Ohio because smaller relases have more impact on smaller rivers, and also rivers the Mississippi that have **** tons of agricultural runoff pollutants that nobody counts in any official capacity. Gallon for gallon, the Ohio is actually pretty clean.

Full disclosure, I used to track industrial pollutant releases into the Ohio in a past life.

Interesting... prior to a couple of days ago, that Twitter account was seemingly inactive for like 6 years.

I live in Singapore. Orange is going to be a ball ache. Every employer is now required to perform temperature checks twice daily.. which is hard because all pharmacies around town have been sold out of thermometers for over a week.

Wife and I are seriously discussing about whether to take the kids and bail somewhere, but the tradeoffs aren't clear.. risk getting stuck/stranded, being around sick people while travelling, etc.
