I looked it up over lunch. It's aimed at Lupus Nephritis which effects the kidneys. My Lupus primarily screws with my blood and doesn't have a fancy name. This is great news for those folks though. I don't know of any treatments specifically for that type of lupus and it can be more severe and result in kidney failure.

Okay enough about me let's get back to the coronavirus.

NYT WAS very good on science news. They let Nicholas Wade get away with many "thought crimes." Harmon is however an ideologue.

They have reporters inside China. I think the reporting is worth following.

Didn't Australian scientists claim to recreate virus in lab a few days ago, would think something like this HIV structure issue would have presented itself sooner if true....

I am starting to feel a lot better about this. The numbers outside china are encouraging. Too many countries to likely be involved in any massive coverup. Hopefully the 'recovered' ratio start outpacing the 'dead' ratio soon.

I got the impression the hiv components make it more stable, should be easier for your body to fight. Also explains the rumor that hiv anti-virals helped cure some people.

1) Binding to the method of entry
2) preventing the virus from exiting the diseased cell
3) Pause replication of the virus envelope?

Yeah I don't know. Infectious diseases isn't a common research interest of mine.

The twitter thread mentioned that what they stole from HIV was the RNA quality control system so that the RNA doesn't continuously mutate within the cell. In my mind, a more stable virus should make it easier for your body to get under control.

Isn't HIV really bad because it attacks the immune system cells, and is constantly changing its binding methods?



Also I'm just relaying a rumor I read that HIV medicine helped in a couple "cured" cases. Whether or not thats true, related to the "engineered" code, or whatever. Its beyond me.

Follow up addendum to this. Enormous potential implications here. This ain't tinfoil hat stuff; there are real ties between academics and biotech companies / research facilities that have connections to where this new outbreak of engineered coronavirus was tweaked and released. A lot of tossing around of the term conspiracy theorist on here, but there are screaming inadequacies throughout this saga that demand answers, of which go beyond the public domain. I ain't going to try and answer why this non-natural strain of the virus was created, but I do know it's rarely what untrustworthy government officials say it's for.
