How long can you trust tap water once it reaches the point where everyone is staying home from work.daggertx said:

Saw three old Asians with masks on at my sons basketball game this morning. Unclear if that was to protect them from getting sick, or us from catching it from them LOL
Pretty long? I am struggling to figure out what you are getting at here.GE said:How long can you trust tap water once it reaches the point where everyone is staying home from work.daggertx said:

Not gonna lie, I find all of this horribly fascinating. Epidemics/pandemics has always been one of my personal study areas. I have an entire bookshelf with dedicated volumes of plagues/pandemics of the past.
I think most realize that there is a very thin line separating these kinds of events from being a short term scare to possibly being something the generations after us will be reading about in their own books if the incubation is indeed a coupla weeks.
The what if I keep spinning in my head is what would the US do in these circumstances. Because pretty much only one real thing has been shown to limit these events if anything does. And that is draconian government control. Which is incompatible with most of us Americans. Current student myself and I frequent a popular Asian food joint near campus and at least half the clientele (all asian themselves) were wearing masks already.
One thing I am positive of, is that China is underreporting. As most of us suspect.

I am watching it at this moment. Scary but you know what. Our population on this earth is too high.
I believe these viruses are here to keep it in check. It's only a matter of time.
Complete myth. You could place every person on the planet shoulder to shoulder, front to back and fit all 7.8 billon of us in Los Angeles. Not Los Angeles county, just LA proper. 95% of humans live on 8.5% of the surface area, and 80% of the land surface area on earth is either minimally inhabited or not inhabited at all by humans.
It's also a myth that most insufficient resources are due to overpopulation. The biggest problem with most resources is production with the most common rate limiting step being man power.
They also sell lots of water purifiers for campers etc. in the flood we bought some in case we ran out of cleanAgvet12 said:GE said:How long can you trust tap water once it reaches the point where everyone is staying home from work.daggertx said:

Boil it before you drink it

All I want to know is does this mean I need to stop eating Chinese food? Oh and btw Uncle Benny scoffed at the paltry number dead and told me in LW4 that "there's a billion more where they came from".
Please note winky face icon.
I dont think anyone is saying the virus in the water. I've always functioned under the assumption that tap water is clean and drinkable because people work to keep it that way and if those people aren't showing up for work it could cause problems. Could be wrong that was just my assumption.yukmonkey said:
How would the virus be in the water? You guys are jumping off some serious logic cliffs.

"600 million screaming Chinamen."
"Last I heard there were a billion screaming Chinamen"
"There were."

Hopefully most people in Texas (or at least the Gulf Coast area) have a hurricane kit that includes water and food for a couple weeks.
Although there is a huge rush at the store anytime something enters the gulf so people could be less prepared than me.
