Swine Flu pandemic in 2009 I guess was the last time we saw something like this. From googling, they officially reported about 20000 deaths during that outbreak but some estimates say it could have been as much as 200,000.

Seems like from what is being reported, the horse has pretty much left the barn on this Coronavirus, and a pandemic inevitable. What you hope for now is the containment being done at least slows down the spread to buy more time for the medical researchers. And buy time such that maybe Warm weather changes in spring help things out.

Economically, obviously this has been and will be costly. Sucks and thoughts and prayers to those who have been directly affected by this.

There was a marked dent in the basic food supplies at Sams just now. Canned meat, rice, beans. Never seen the canned chicken breast that low before. The small cans there may have been a row and half of units on the pallet. The big cans maybe three rows. Tuna was about a third left. Not sure what the back stock is of course but people are snapping it up already.

MSM is finally admitting this may be a problem and word of mouth is creeping on social media. Love or hate it, believe in it or not, I am fairly certain there is going to be a run soon on certain things. At least for a short while. Even the kiddos on campus now are getting phone calls from their parents tonight to prepare. I can personally confirm that in at least three different students. Fear will spike and there will be people buying everything real soon.

About the sick crew member on the Meraviglia that was diagnosed with flu....

At least if Sams or H-E-B runs out, they will be stocked back up in a couple days. It's not like a hurricane where Power is out and supply trucks can't get through because of high water.
