In Private, Republicans Admit They Acquitted Trump Out of Fear

In private, many of my colleagues agree that the president is reckless and unfit. They admit his lies. And they acknowledge what he did was wrong. They know this president has done things Richard Nixon never did. And they know that more damning evidence is likely to come out.
They are afraid that Mr. Trump might give them a nickname like "Low Energy Jeb" and "Lyin' Ted," or that he might tweet about their disloyalty. Or worst of all that he might come to their state to campaign against them in the Republican primary.

Sidenote ...
EVERY prediction you made about the impeachment and Trump leaving office was wrong. EVERY one.
You said he would be out of office in a few weeks. And that more than 50 senators would vote for removal. The list of your failed predictions is long.
So why do you think that is? Why are all of your predictions wrong?
Any ideas?

I don't know if this has been posted yet but did y'all notice that the republicans in the crowd looked healthy and in decent shape. The democrats all looked like they took a bus from a retirement home. They looked so unhealthy and sloppy.
Also, Pence looked fit as a fiddle!
What's an 'officerholder'....anyone?Quote:
If corrupt, criminal, traitor President @realDonaldTrump fires hero patriot Lt. Alexander Vindman today, the Democratic Party should immediately recruit him to be on a ballot for elected office in 2020.

Sure. You seem to argue that if a President acts in any way that might (even in some far fetched circumstance, including writing a book) may personally benefit him/her after their presidency, that those actions are impeachable during their presidency.
For instance, Joe Biden is not permitted to use the power of his Vice Presidency to protect his son. If he did, he should be punished.
You don't seriously believe they could announce an investigation into Biden family corruption tomorrow without the left going ballistic, do you? A new impeachment inquiry would begin immediately.
Haven forbid the left go ballistic! Whatever would we do?
Announcement not necessary. Have grand jury look into it. (Maybe they already are)
White House Counsel was asked by a Senator yesterday if it was being investigated, and they said No.
Gary Johnson said:
My basis is we would have heard about it by now, loudly proclaimed by Trump or at least a strategic leak. And that officials who would know, aka Lindsey Graham, have publicly called for one.
You have no basis to claim that there is.

Graham opened a a senate inquiry three months ago. Crickets. A politically motivated investigation ordered by Trump doesn't signal new found credibility. Giuliani has been "investigating" for two years, Graham has access to White House records of Biden meetings. Russian intelligence agencies are digging for Biden dirt on Trump's behalf. Still crickets.
All Rudy has to show for all that work is the after-the-fact deposition of a disgraced, corrupt, prosecutor, working on behalf of a Russian-Ukrainian mobster oligarch trying to avoid extradition. Shokin was the most hated man in Ukraine for reasons having nothing to do with Burisma, and the entire country tells us he's lying.
But Trump couldn't believe it. Not on this or the stupid Crowdstrike thing. He couldn't because he didn't want to. What the Russians were selling him he liked better than the truth his staff was giving him.

Although in that tweet speaking of "unredacted" emails but showing one email that is completely redacted is a nice touch.
John Maplethorpe said:
The emails are real. Released under FOIA.
Read the source material for yourself if you don't trust commentary. The White House was lying to the DOD, GAO, and congress, and they continue to release absurdly redacted documents in a stalling strategy.
