Impeachment doesn't nullify the election, Bo. HRC doesn't become POTUS. Impeachment is a Constitutional check and balance against abuse of power, corruption, and high crimes & bribery.

Trump did this to himself with his predeliction for corruption. It's his nature. He's always been corrupt, and he's always associated with other crooks and corrupt grifters. If this impeachment doesn't result in removal, another impeachment will follow when more of his crimes are exposed.

Luckily the moral and pure of Congress can save our Democracy from the threat of Trump! Go get him Alcee!

This is political theater to win 2020. If you don't understand that you are naive.

Oh you're gonna have a hard year in 2020....but on the bright side at least you get to have 5 more years to be upset at someone other than yourself and the left.

If he's re-elected another impeachment is a political coup. The states would know what they are getting with him and any attempt to remove him would be an effort to deny the states their choice.

Would you please list indictments and guilty charges that have been leveled against Trump? By Democrat logic, we can all call you corrupt and that you will eventually be charged with a crime even with zero evidence of wrong doing.

Guilty until proven innocent.

When all the main players in the push for impeachment are saying that if they don't do this he will be elected again;

When from day one (and before) the object has been to remove him by any means (because Hillary lost);

When the media is fully on board and selling what these people are preaching, refusing to do their job of impartial investigative journalism;

Yes, this is an attempt at election nullification.

The impeachment inquiry has two main purposes.

The first, and most obvious, is to prevent Trump's re-election.

The second, and most urgent, is to prevent Trump from replacing RBG.

The third thing is diversion from the corruption that Barr et al are about to expose. With impeachment the corrupt can just claim that Barr's investigations are political retaliation.

And directly claiming that Mueller and his hand-picked 13-18 lawyers were incompetent as hell. If there was solid evidence of acts that were illegal obstruction, the Mueller report would have loudly proclaimed so. Mueller's team was under no compulsion to actually indict, in fact under the OLC opinion they likely could not indict a sitting President.

But they didn't need to indict, they just needed to provide a roadmap to actual acts that were obstructive. Destruction or hiding of evidence (Clinton's secretary hid the gifts between Monica and Clinton). Subornation of perjury (Clinton again and Nixon), actual perjury (Clinton). And similar acts.

In that respect, look at how Leon Jaworski complied his "report" on Watergate. It was actually an index. A short paragraph of the allegations and then citations to where in the record the evidence in support was located.

All of Mueller's sheepish, "well we didn't think it was fair to put allegations out there when the President couldn't be indicted and defend himself in a court of law," was just BS to cover up the fact that they didn't have a case. Attenuated, amorphous speculation does not make probable cause to believe a crime has been committed.

But Mueller's overall goal was still partially achieved as we are still dealing with impeachment talk over attenuated amorphous speculation and not much else.

I found this quote today. Pretty fitting for recent events.

In 1835 Alexis de Tocqueville said,

"A decline of public morals in the United States will probably be marked by the abuse of the power of impeachment as a means of crushing political adversaries or ejecting them from office."

Really kind of amazing he's lasted 73 years outside a jail cell huh?

Thankfully the best and brightest and most morally and ethically devout people exist in the federal government, especially the counter-intelligence community. Otherwise this man may have gone his whole life without proper justice.

To be honest, when I was working inside the beltway 1997-2002 it was kind of amazing how bad it got once 43 took over. With Clinton running things and finally righting the ship after Reagan and 41, it was amazing how big a step backwards 43 took us in just general ethical culture. Fortunately Obama saved us from the cliff. If Trump hadn't cheated we really could have just drifted into the utopian promised land Obama had led us to after our brief step back into the wilderness of corruption.

Exactly. Impeachment is 100% political no rules hardball. The Dems goal is ONLY to get rid of Trump. The d me have ZERO REAL interest in rooting out corruption. If they did, there is PLENTY of corruption on the dem side they could much more easily address.

Reminds me of bankruptcy case I was involved in years ago. A principal in a business declared personal bankruptcy despite having embezzled a ton of money from the business. He was also the registered agent and President of the company, so he sent notices of his bankruptcy to himself. The bankruptcy judge was not impressed that constituted actual notice to the shareholders in order to bar their claims after discharge.

Judge said, "Well it was nice of the defalcator to send notice of his defalcations to himself in case he had forgotten about his multiple defalcations, like a post-it reminding one to buy milk but that's not notice to the company, nor its shareholders. Denied! Next?"

WHEN this impeachment doesn't result in Trump's removal - I'm as anxious as many to see who's crimes are exposed.

It's a race to see which sides credibility can be destroyed the fastest and it appears to me, Trump is recovering quickly from a few bad weeks.

The dems don't have a candidate that can win on their own merit - their only chance is to beat trump before election day and they're doing their damnedest to make sure that happens.

https://nypost.com/2019/11/01/vindmans-identical-twin-may-be-called-to-testify-in-impeachment-probe/

"Vindman's identical twin may be called to testify in impeachment probe

The identical twin brother of Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, the top Ukraine expert on the National Security Council who testified this week before House lawmakers in the Trump impeachment probe, may also be called to testify, according to a report.

Yevgeny Vindman, also an Army lieutenant colonel, works in the White House in an office next to his brother as an NSC lawyer handling ethics issues.

Alexander Vindman allegedly told investigators that his sibling had witnessed the decision to move the transcript of President Trump's July 25 phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, to a top secret server, according to the Wall Street Journal."

Nixon released transcripts too. And the tapes we got later after a court battle showed the "transcripts" had been edited to omit incriminating evidence of the crimes of Nixon and his Republican subordinates.
