Exactly. No one was saying withholding judgment was a problem. It was the assertion that it was "odd" that folks would call this obvious hoax for what it was when we'd literally just seen the media/leftists get out over their skis with the Covington story.
You would think they would learn and Whoopi even said something to that effect on the View (which I don't watch but saw the clip) where she said about Covington "why do we keep falling for these hoaxes" and Behar quipped "because we want to get Trump" to the audience's delight. Sickening...and they STILL don't learn.

The thing about Covington is it would take an intern less than 5 minutes to fact check the story, and s/he could have discovered Nathan Phillip's past history, other video clips which showed what really occurred, and the Black Israelites and their vicious taunts of the kids. Of course the story was just TOO good and leftist media can't help themselves.

Maybe just maybe, the media will perform a little more due diligence....ha ha ha, who am I kidding, they didn't learn a thing and never will.
Yeah that's the frustrating thing. The reality is there are plenty of racist, bigoted people on both sides of the aisle. Always have been, always will be in a country this large. Of course there have been crimes committed before on the grounds of different demographics. When they occur, they should be excoriated by decent folk of every stripe.

The problem has always been the narrative. Leftists and the media have somehow convinced themselves that they've basically purged racism, sexism, homophobia, religious persecution, etc., from their ranks. Despite all evidence to the contrary. That's why tales like Jussie's ring so readily true to them when they first come out.

Hopefully this sham blowing up so spectacularly in Jussie's face gives others of his ilk true pause (instead of, say, just doing a better job of covering their tracks next time lol).

When it first happened, I discussed my, at the time, unpopular opinion of the Jussie Smollett attack with my friend Elena. Something didn't sit right with me and I was hoping to be very wrong. As it turns out, I might have been right. He has now hired a defense attorney. Dude, there are so many terrible things that will come of this. I'm still hoping that I am wrong, but it's not looking so good. Why dude, why ?!

The bolded above is what I just don't understand. When someone makes this statement, they are saying they really wish a man was beaten, had bleach poured on him and a "noose" put around his neck by people yelling racist, homophobic slurs at him. I personally would prefer that it was a hoax because we need very little (zero would be best, but not realistic) of these kind of attacks to happen in this country. It's better for everyone.
agreed, and I posted this somewhere else in the thread. it really illustrates just how far out of whack these people are. they would rather someone have actually suffered a brutal attack at the hands of a political rival than to have lied and hurt "their" side. I cant even get my head wrapped around that.

maybe I should just chalk it up to not really thinking through what they are actually saying, but something tells me that they probably really mean that.

Won't happen. A Chicago jury would never reach a unanimous conclusion to convict. It would be like OJ, everyone knew he did it, but the jury stacked the way it was, was never going to convict him despite the overwhelming evidence that he was guilty.

Shouldn't be the same problem when he faces the impending federal charges.

Dear Jussie,
You are hereby banished from the Gay community for all the future pain you will cause us

Seriously. How much attention do you need? Be gone. Never show your face in the gay community again.

Yes, Jussie Smollett is an *******. The real issue here is that queer black and brown people already face a world where their calls of discrimination go unnoticed, unreported, and ignored. Jussie just made that reality even worse and that's the real travesty.

Any Lawyer Want To Go In On A Class Action Lawsuit Against Jussie Smollett For Wasting My Life With His Nonsense...?

3,500 was the price you pay for throwing a career down the commode is just beyond me and during black history month is just hurtful. The math just doesn't add up.

Good morning Beautiful People! I will never NOT believe victims. The liars actually hurt real victims even more. Also Jussie wasn't the sole representative of "black" before this BS and he DAMN SURE isn't the sole representative now! He ****ed up HIS life not everybody black's. That being said, will not apologize for believing a victim of ANY race...what I will apologize for is how nasty I got with some people over their disbelief.

My take is they were hoping this wouldn't turn out to be a hoax and make it more difficult for real victims of hate crime to report it in the future. Your take is valid and is what I stated probably 20 pages ago:

Quote:

Whatever myth you thought of how the left views the right can be viewed through the prism of this story. They truly believe everyone that supports Trump is not only racist but homophobic and would love nothing more than to lynch everyone who doesn't cling to their religion and guns.

That's what they think...seriously, so all you never Trump independents and Libertarians who will vote that way in 2020 just remember, if they are that warped now then what makes you think they won't come for your freedoms when they get power.

It also rings true because it's all they have...the left doesn't have a message except orange man bad, orange man racist, homophobic, sexist and xenophobic. They don't have any ideas or messaging except for the ridiculous Green New Deal so they have to jump on everything they can to make orange man bad.

I think you are actually right for some people. My wife wasn't as up to speed on the sheer volume of hate crime hoaxes and winced a bit when I told her to hold off on believing the veracity of Jussie's claims when the story first broke.

Some time last week, when the idea this was probably a hoax started to take hold in the media, she admitted she didn't like that I said that at first, apologized and agreed that this was the second high profile thing she recently believed so easily (Covington being the other one) and she needed to view these stories with a more critical eye going forward.

All good up to then, but she next made the same statement as I bolded above about being disappointed. I gave her the same explanation I did in my reply and she quickly realized it was a big mistake to think that way.

I think some people are disappointed in the sense that they find it hard to believe someone could do something so terrible (my wife is a trusting, sweet as can be individual so this is her thought process), combined with the idea that these false flag deals hurt real victims of attacks.

The blowhards like Don Lemon, Van Johnson and many others do unfortunately frame it like your first paragraph, a real attack would be preferred to "setting back the movement". Disgusting.

Guess he could be charged with mail fraud, but kind of doubt that will happen. Even if he was indicted on federal charges, his attorneys will be diligent enough to qualify some jurors that have a political agenda, just like the dream team did for OJ.

So Limbaugh was saying today that Jussie's lawyers will probably have him stick to the reasons for him doing this being to up his pay on the show/raise his profile. The thought being that if he hints he did this for activism/political motive then possible he could be charged with a hate crime. Not sure about all of that but that was Limbaugh's take.

Also, I haven't taken the time to read the updates yet but has he actually plead guilty or entered any kind of plea yet? Someone above mentioned jury so I wondered if he had plead not guilty.

I don't see any chance he's charged with a hate crime in Chicago. No matter what else.

Hang on now--- let's not be totally disingenuous here. This guy had a list and yes, that list had liberal names on it-- he had ALSO made statements numerous time about wanting to kill everyone in the world. Thanos times two.
Now-- while this clown is an ass hat, technically he hasn't done anything illegal that I know of. He owned guns and ammo and planned to do something-- but it's not like this actually showed up at a public function like a softball game and actually shot people.

Did this guy likely have bad intentions? Probably so. Did he act on them? Nope. Did someone's life probably get saved? Looks like it. But preventing a crime and actually committing a crime are not equal baller.
