Smart thing not to engage. These people talk a big game about dialogue, but all they really want for him to do is to shut up and listen to their demands. In turn, they will not listen to him, and if he does not confess to the error of his ways, then the whole process will simply reset itself, degenerating into nothing more than a mindless closed feedback loop.

He was right to call them children, because intellectually, that's what they are. They are barely beyond sticking their tongues out and arguing about whose sitting on whose side of the rear car seat.
