Given that there are no answers she can provide that can clear anything up and about a million questions that don't help her....I have to wonder if she/Dem handlers thought Kavanaugh would be pulled before it got to this point.

I agree it is being taken seriously. My point is how less willing the left is to take support for Judge Kavanaugh by women seriously. In other words, if you speak against Judge Kavanaugh you must be taken seriously, if you speak for him you must not. Not surprising in the least, just another example of the double standard that has become the norm

You can't cancel the hearing by giving a deadline.

Let the invite float in the wind the rest of this week and thru the weekend. If you pull the invite at this point or give a deadline of 24 or 48 hours to respond you are giving the Dems the ammo they want. Cancel and the narrative blasted out over the internet and on TV, except for Fox, will be, "evil sexist white Republican senators deny "victim" the right to tell her story". Keep up with the "we really want to hear her side of the story".

By scheduling a full vote of the Senate. The hearings have been completed. They are currently re-opened but if she fails to accept the invitation and give assurances she will be there, Grassley cancels the Monday hearing and they are closed again. Then McConnell schedules the full vote. (After counting heads of course.)

I understand where you are coming from but delaying it for a week won't accomplish anything. If she won't testify under oath on Monday, she will never testify. And Feinstein can block any subpoenas to force her to testify before the Senate.

I agree that there is a point in which the Republicans will have to move on an take a vote. Whether she testifies or not. I feel that it is way to early to be discussing a cancellation. Let it sit out there for a while and see if the Dems bite.

I heard the reason she did not mention Judge by name was to avoid a suit since he is not a public figure.

I think the Democrats are trying to get the FBI to do a formal investigation, which will drag this out for a long time and maybe get Kavanaugh in a perjury trap ! Maybe they will push for Strzok to get re-hired to perform the investigation.

I think the most likely scenario is that something like she is describing did happen, only it didn't involve Kavanaugh, it wasn't necessarily at any party, and she wasn't an unwilling participant.

I was in high school during this era. Not that it was unlike any other era, but had anything close to what she alleged happened, EVERYONE would have known about it. We had a small get together of my HS class a few months ago. About 15 of us were there -- including 2 girls that got pregnant during HS. We got to talking about the other ones that got pregnant and who all was involved. I told a story, leaving out a name, of what i had heard about one girl. The story involved a guy who was supposedly willing to marry her, which was strange as it turned out because he ended up coming out as gay (another not so well kept secret). Anyway, one guy said, "yeah, that was Darryl...." I thought only a small (i.e. 4 or 5) number of people knew about it. Most there were aware of it.

The only secrets kept from HS are the ones people have forgotten about because they weren't sexy enough to remember or tell others about repeatedly.

Fox News was reporting at lunch time that the Democrats now want the White House Counsel to be grilled by the committee, because they're claiming he knew about Kavanaugh being a rapist months ago.

Of course, this is just another delaying tactic. They want the red state Democrats not to have to vote for Kavanaugh to save their seats, but also risk Dem voter backlash, and to try and push this past the midterms, or even into the next Congress where they hope to have control.

Would love it if true, but I don't believe anybody's Twitter anymore.

The main idea of this was to get the confirmation vote past the mid terms so red state democrat sentors wouldn't have to vote for him to get reelected.
