For senate hearings, there really isn't any kind of due process. The only thing there is that you have the right to 5th amendment protection because you testify under oath. The senate gets to set their own rules when it comes to hearings, because the constitution is silent on the "how" it's done. If they wanted to make a senate rule that only republicans get to ask questions, they could do so. If they want to allow Kavanaugh to question her directly, they could do that too.

She could have taken a train or bus (ticket funded by the taxpayers) or driven herself to DC in time for Monday's hearing. Grassley invited her to testify via a letter to her attorneys on the 18th.
And if she was scared to travel, Grassley offered to take folks to CA so she could testify there. He offered her the opportunity to call in and testify to the committee...
Again, if you try to appease an aggressor, they just get more aggressive...
