You do the job you need to do. You kill weeds, you till the soil, you plant, you harvest. You don't intentionally kill non target species, including animals.
Can't tell you how many times I've stopped the tractor for a few seconds to let critters scurry out of the way. I'm such a softy that I've moved killdeer nests off the row.
Do I lose sleep over the few bugs, mice, snakes, etc that I accidentally kill? No. But I don't kill them on purpose
