Not a smidgen.

Wray will now clean this up by opening an IG investigation.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Lastly, does anyone else find it odd that now is Trey Gowdy admitting that he viewed the Flynn-Kislyak phone call transcripts. I wonder why he waited to say that.

...Based on my own discussions with FBI agents over the years, the general sentiment from the "rank and file" in the offices subjected to inspections is that they believe the inspection team shows up knowing that certain people have been targeted for "scrutiny", and that a visit from the Inspections Division is really to "collect some scalps"......

An impressive detailed overview by Shipwreckedcrew of the recently announced inspections to be conducted by the FBI Inspections Division. Don't expect a whitewash...rather just the opposite.

Key point.

Quote:

Second, when Attorney General Barr tasked U.S. Attorney John Durham with looking into the origins of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation and part of the focus of that investigation involved the investigation of Gen. Flynn it would have been ill-advised to have FBI Inspections Division initiate its own investigation of FBI conduct at the same time U.S. Attorney Durham was conducting a criminal investigation that involved many of the same people. There was already an IG investigation underway on the narrow issue of the FISA applications, whereas Durham's investigation is thought to be much broader. Having a third parallel investigation conducted by FBI Inspection Division, where the same people would be interviewed or targeted yet again is simply not a wise idea. In that situation, the administrative review is always going to wait for the criminal investigation to be completed. AG Barr has made frequent references recently to the Durham probe coming to the end of its investigative phase, and the timing of Dr. Wray's announcement may be tied to that fact.

This has come up before. There is one very important question by Durham that the knuckleheads Obama, Clapper, Brennan, Comey Etc. can't answer : " Since you suspected that the Trump Campaign was colluding with Russia, and Trump had three high profile, former Federal Prosecutors, Rudy Giuliani, Chris Christie and Jeff Sessions in his Campaign, why didn't you approach them with your concerns. I think this clearly shows their intent to conspire to destroy a US Candidate for President and then destroy him after he was duly elected. Treason !!

Maybe some low-level nobody we've never heard of will be "reassigned," but that's about all that's ever going to come of this.

I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

Yeah, well, I'm not impressed. This is just the FBI trying to protect what is left of it's reputation, in grandiose language;

Quote:

This is an interesting development considering this same FBI Director previously claimed the office of inspector general found no intentional wrongdoing by people within the FBI; and Wray further asserted there was "no evidence of political bias" after each of three OIG investigations completed in 2018 and 2019.

If the OIG did not find FBI wrongdoing, then what changed? Why is FBI Director Chris Wray now launching an internal investigation? The answer appears to be an outsider's investigation via Missouri U.S. Attorney, Jeff Jensen.

The inspection division (INSD) previously reviewed FBI conduct and reported to Office of Inspector General Michael Horowitz. The resulting IG findings of FBI conduct was carefully worded and disingenuous at best, but it was embraced by FBI Director Wray.

Now the outsider review by US Attorney Jeff Jensen; combined with the simultaneous declassification of documents by DNI Ric Grenell; appears to be highlighting a lot more internal FBI corruption. Hence this unavoidable shift in tone from Wray.

This announcement today comes as Ric Grenell is working to declassify the transcript(s) of the Flynn-Kislyak call, with some rather interesting comments.
This new review will highlight that no bad actors now exist (not looking at anyone who has left the bureau, maybe some more forms need to be modified, that's all.

In a sane world, Wray would have issued a public (and written) apology to Flynn, and the President, and Manafort by now for the role the FBI played in harassing/abusing their authority to investigate and cast a pall of guilt, falsely, publicly on these individuals for partisan purposes based on innuendo and political lies/Russian disinformation. Then he should have resigned.

So no, this new investigation is not 'oh great, sunlight is coming!' to my reading.

As ms. Hawg alluded to, the worst actors are already gone, leaving Mr. Durham to deal with them which I hope he will. Director Wray is left with trying to salvage what's left of a once honored FBI. I can understand that, as long as he's not currently trying to hide anything.

I don't care about Wray's investigation I'm more excited that Durham's criminal probe is coming to an end. With the covid mess I'm not sure grand juries have been convening but if they have been, we might see some indictments soon.

I hate it when a writer I respect makes sense of my otherwise cynicism.

Regarding the investigation Wray announced, I would like for it to include the Las Vegas shooting. Since most of our criminal heroes were still employed, I've often wondered what really happened, or didn't happen.

I don't buy into conspiracy theories. And I don't think there was one in regards to the LV massacre. But the msm's "conspiracy" to not be the least bit curious about it is very odd. Perhaps they're heeding law enforcements' pleas to ignore it as much as possible so there won't be copycats.

My understanding of the circuit court order is that Sullivan will still need to sign the reply brief along with Beth Wilkinson. I mean they can't really order that he can't hire an outside attorney to assist him.

Is it a bad look for a three plus decade member of the bench to have to call in reinforcements to justify his own orders? Yeah, it does.

Can someone inform Sullivan that's it's time for him to leave the plantation? That's it's ok and there's a whole world out there.

Lifetime appointment. He won't leave until he's ready to or is impeached. But the circuit court can make his remaining time on the bench not fun. He's already forfeited his reputation as a fair arbiter of justice, which gives litigants ammunition in which to call for his recusal.

Well then, let's hope Beth Wilkinson (SP), Esq. charges LOTS of hrs at a GI-NORMUS hrly rate. If Pro Bono, let's hope LOTS of hrs and gastric heartburn, all for naught and Flynn's eventual exoneration!
