aggiehawg,

What is this about? This is getting absurd. Until the Trump admin realizes they must ignore Democrat faux claims of ethics or any other reason of complaint, and see it as the pre-judged "sting" that all this is, things will get nowhere.

This is why, though I know it irks, believe there will be no perp walks or any consequences at all -- to Democrats that ruined the institutions under Obama and continue to.

Sessions should never have recused -- no Democrat would have. But even if you grant that, Whitaker needs to refuse. He needs to play by the 2.0 rules that does not back down ---not those of the age of Boehner and Bush.

It's actually comical.

Nadler is crying and Schumer is crying because whitaker as a private citizen appeared on CNN, which he was invited to appear, and he gave his opinion on the Mueller investigation. Then he wrote an Opinion Piece about the Mueller investigation, and they are claiming he shows a bias toward Mueller.

Now here's the punchline..... Nadler along with every democrat that has ever appeared on TV since 2016 has made Bias derogatory statements and claims against Trump and many have written Opinion Pieces in the NYT or WaPo doing the same thing, all 100% anti Trump

So are any of the Democrats that are on any of these committees much less the committee chairs, are they going to recuse themselves from any investigation into Trump? Heck no they aren't and won't even consider it. So they can go sit down and STFU because they have no authority and no grounds.

Quote:

.....Yet Trump's opponents seek to crucify Whitaker for refusing to step aside, speculating that as acting attorney general he will improperly interfere with the Mueller investigation. While this charge is both unsupported and unjust, it provides a political win-win for the president's detractors. If the narrative builds and prompts Whitaker to recuse, Rosenstein remains in the oversight role. But the more likely scenario sees Whitaker as Mueller's superior, in which case the victory comes when nothing comes of the Russia investigation.

If the special counsel concludes that the Trump campaign did not collude with Russia to interfere with the 2016 election -- as appears likely given the absence of any substantive charges of collusion in the last two years -- Trump's exoneration will be proof to his detractors that Whitaker interfered in the investigation. The relentless attacks on Whitaker today are merely laying the groundwork for that eventuality. And if Whitaker's reputation must take a hit in the process, that's just how Washington operates......

A 'win-win' for the Dems....no question about it, but releasing an unredacted FISA + Ohr's 302s easily would wipe out that advantage.

There is an ethics office in the DOJ that can be asked to review recusal questions. Same office with which Sessions consulted before his recusal. (Sessions' recusal was simply too broad at the time and he never really tightened that up.)

Not unusual but noteworthy that Rosenstein has never been cleared of his recusal issues over the Mueller investigation. (At least not that I am aware of.)

Can the US marshal be sent into the DOJ to collect all documents that have been asked for? What the hell is taking so long? I have lost all faith in our legal system. Nothing is going to happen to the criminals that are too politicallly connected. It's the beginning of the end of the republic.

Agree fully. Or have the NSA literally hack it. Or if that creates a problem, ask the 4chan types. Something.

There should be a million conservative march on DC saying "we will not accept the findings of the Mueller-Rosenstein farce if it doesn't include going after Democrats so give it up"

In a Short answer, Not likely

USMS work for and are a part of the DOJ. Now if the AG were to order the to got to a certain Department, for instance the FBI, they could.

You know what's interesting? So many people seemed perfectly happy to have a quasi-unitary federal sovereign with a strong form leader until someone without a (D) after his name showed up to do the job. And then they freaked out and started scrambling for any means possible to dial back the authority that the strong form leader possessed.

Pretty amazing how the Federalist Society can put out an approved list of perspective SCOTUS nominees for Trump to pick from, and the Democrats scream bloody murder calling the Federalist Society a far right radical group, and charge them with hyper conservative views because they advocate for "originalism" and "textualism" in the legal system, and opposing judicial activism and the expansion of the "administrative state."

Fast forward now to Wittes praising the Federalist Society and flaunting this list like they are the gold standard now. It's no wonder the left claim to be native americans, they can shapeshift with the best medicine men on the planet. The GOP needs to pin these idiots down and quit allowing them to change with the wind direction, when it favors their cause.

This charge is one that really ticks me off. The guy joined the Trump team around March 14th, was announced the 21st and met with Mifsud the 24th (don't hold me to those dates, they could be off a couple of days, but the general time frame is reasonably accurate). Ten or eleven months later he didn't have perfect recall of exactly when those things happened, and he gets charged with perjury for it?

That is why the 5th basically exists.

Part of this is due to the absurd erosion of some of the Presidential protections from just sundry lawsuits that started (with Nixon? Maybe Aggiehawg can clarify) It definitely really began under Clinton. And I didn't really like it.

That's how unscrupulous prosecutors bully people into compliance, or attempt to, if they think they might get something. The result is that people learn to be vague and not recall anything with specificity.
