One more thing to think about. The NYT still sets the news of the day for everyone else. They wanted this to be the story. They are not like CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS. Those networks follow the lead of the NYT usually.

BMX, I've followed this thread for months and have much respect for your opinions on this topic and others. To me, it seemed like this was kind of a lawyerly response that could be interpreted in different ways depending on what facts are revealed. I had to drive into town (well for what passes as a "town" here in the boonies) to get supplies and groceries for game day. Listened to Hannity for a few minutes on the drive. He's rolling with this story.

Could the story simply be there to cover up the stench that is rising from the FISA stuff?
What I mean is DC is a swamp. As the swamp rots, some people have to be sacrificed for the sake of others. By throwing RR under the bus and give Trump a reason to fire him other than FISA, maybe others will be spared?
