Do we know what his lie was to the FBI? What did they tell him to get the interview? My gut says they got the interview under false pretenses, but would be happy to be wrong.
Edit - I Googled his indictment and read it. His lie was that he said he met "the professor" and "a certain female Russian national" before he joined the Trump campaign. He became part of the campaign in "early March" and met "the professor" on March 14th and the female about March 24th. Interestingly, the indictment says:
Quote:
Through his false statements and omissions, defendant PAPADOPOULOS impeded the FBI 's ongoing investigation into the existence of any links or coordination between individuals associated with the Campaign and the Russian government' s efforts to interfere with the 2016 presidential election.
How the hell could being wrong about those dates impede the investigation in any way? Also interesting that "the professor" was reaching out to the Trump campaign that early. Isn't this even before the Comey meeting with Lynch about the "troublesome" new members of Trump's team?
2nd Edit - he gave them a crap ton of information. There's no way giving the wrong dates was intended to impede the investigation. The indictment cites the Washington Post as publishing on March 21st that he was part of the team. Seems to me that is after March 14th. This kid is getting screwed by team Mueller.
