McCarthy's latest:

Really enjoyed reading this McCarthy article, he makes a very key summary point on this entire episode of American politics, but I'm not sure he goes far enough.
I would like to think that William F. Buckley would shake his head at the lack of introspection on display by McCarthys point that this started at the Obama Administration.
As is being discussed here in the last couple of pages. This episode happens when bad actors like Obama et al have tools at their disposal like the tools the NSA has.
While I have an appreciation for McCarthys summary point:
Quote:
The Trump-Russia investigation did not originate with Page or Papadopoulos. It originated with the Obama administration.
I cant help but beleive their is, at a minimum, unintentional blinders to the role also played by the GOP establishment. A group equally if not more scared by the prospect of a Trump presidency as Obama Inc.
McCarthy brushes up against the notion here:
Quote:
What would have been the reason for Lynch, Comey, and McCabe to discuss Carter Page? Well, on March 21, 2016 i.e., early spring the Trump campaign announced the candidate's foreign-policy advisory team. Trump had been spurned by the Republican foreign-policy clerisy and was under pressure to show that he had some advisers.
Ultimately it's the entire "Political Class" that created this situation as it became more and more likely that a virtually complete political outsider, one that was a bombastic billionaire playboy buisnessman turned reality TV personality, would be given access behind the curtain.
In cinematic terms. Trump is Toto from the Wizard of Oz.

The Wizard is the entire Political Class inside the beltway: including the media, lobbyists; upper echelons of the counter-intelligence, law enforcement, and justice communities, and life long politicians.
Trumps associations, past and present, made him an easy target for entrapment. In the minds of Obama Inc. and the political class, the naivete of Trump Inc, on all of the facits of mounting a political campaign and holding political office at the highest level would give the political class ample rope to hang Trump.
I think what this 400 page thread illustrates is that the age of technology has made it much harder for the Wizard to rush to pull the curtain back in it's place.
