Lost in all of the noise is this tid-bit from Solomon:
Quote:
But it is almost certain the FBI knew of Steele's contact with State and his partisan motive. That's because former Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland says she instructed her staff to send the information they got from Steele to the bureau immediately and to cease contact with the informer because "this is about U.S. politics, and not the work of not the business of the State Department, and certainly not the business of a career employee who is subject to the Hatch Act."
LINKTo her credit, that synapse fired and she realized that the Steele Dossier was political and not an intelligence product. State Department deals in intel and counter-intel all of the time. Part of their mission and they work alongside the CIA and FBI and exchange information as warranted.
But this was too hot of a potato and she wanted nothing to do with it, nor any of her subordinates to even talk with Steele anymore, specifically because of the Hatch Act. That's freakin' huge.
Although some might want to argue that the FBI didn't share her concerns nor was even aware of her concerns before the initial application, they would have been by the time of the first renewal.
But back to the Comey revelation last night that Obama did not push hard on the Russian efforts to interfere because of political implications. Was that Comey's way of saying Obama told the FBI to stand down? Part of Obama's flexibility, perhaps?
We know some of the cyber intel guys who were working on countering Russian efforts were told to stand down. (Maybe drcrinum can find that article?)
Point being, Obama left a lot of fingerprints. His White House was enlisted to pressure DOJ's Stu Evans to sign off on the Carter Page FISA warrant. He requested a briefing in September 2016 regarding Russian efforts and wanted to know "everything that we are doing," according to Lisa Page. He was in the meeting in January 2017 before Trump's inauguration memorialized by Susan Rice's infamous email to herself wherein it was discussed the witholding of information about the Russian investigation from Trump. (Well, no s***, Sherlock, no one at that meeting ever wanted all of this crap to come out.)
Evelyn Farkas, of DOD, said as much in March 2017. "If they knew
how we," got that information....
Just incredible how arrogant all of these people are. With Victoria Nuland being the one lone voice of reason.
