You need to read the whole article. Not only was this info transmitted up the line via email, they classified it as secret, kept it hidden, & refused to release it to anyone even up to a few days ago under Wray's tenure. The Swamp protects itself, & Wray is part of The Swamp.
From the article re Kavalec's memo:

Quote:

In other words, the FBI under Director Christopher Wray classified the document as "secret" just a few days ago. To add injury to insult, the FBI added this hopeful note: "Declassify on 12/31/2041." That would be 25 years after the 2016 election.
Could they be any more obvious about their cover up?

Can Wray be reversed on this by Barr or some other means. This makes me sick.

Trump can override any classification he wants. The President is the ultimate classification authority.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

The lawyers on this thread are going to love reading the above threadreader.
The litigation involves multiple FOIA court battles to obtain release of Comey's memos. The DOJ has tried every trick in the book to keep unredacted portions of these memos from being revealed/released. Central to the thread: the DOJ 'filed' a classified proffer with the judge explaining why the memos cannot be released, & the judge ruled in favor of the DOJ. There was then litigation to release/declassify the proffer since the Mueller Investigation was completed, & guess what? There is no transcript, no official record of this classified proffer.

Quote:

...How is anyone in the public, the media, Congress or even the DOJ IG supposed to hold the DOJ/FBI accountable for what they said in federal court to justify denying access to @Comey memos if there is no record of it?...

BTW, Undercover Huber is a lawyer.
I keep saying: The Swamp protects itself.

Just catching up. Thanks for sharing your source's input, Frisco. At the same time, it saddens me to see old guys like that who SHOULD know better but have their heads buried in the sand. The letter agencies have been infiltrated with bad actors in many key positions.

At some point, those old timers need to wake up and raise hell.

Why go through all that when they can just store the files on a corrupted hard drive instead?

(Get it... "corrupted")

Data loss should be a criminal offense. These shameless traitors aren't fooling anyone.

Wondering if this was the Dems play all along? Paint Barr as a Trump stooge to discredit his upcoming investigations into the origins of all this and force an exec privilege move so they and the media can continue to spin that Trump is hiding something so they can leave impeachment on the table as a constant threat they'll never actually use. Political games is all they have left.

Posting this here for posterity's sake.

Quote:

Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kathleen Kavalec's written account of her Oct. 11, 2016, meeting with FBI informant Christopher Steele shows the Hillary Clinton campaign-funded British intelligence operative admitted that his research was political and facing an Election Day deadline.
Quote:

Steele's client "is keen to see this information come to light prior to November 8," the date of the 2016 election, Kavalec wrote in a typed summary of her meeting with Steele and Tatyana Duran, a colleague from Steele's Orbis Security firm. The memos were unearthed a few days ago through open-records litigation by the conservative group Citizens United.
Quote:

"Orbis undertook the investigation into the Russia/Trump connection at the behest of an institution he declined to identify that had been hacked," Kavalec wrote.

At the time, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) was the highest-profile victim of election-year hacking.

"The institution approached them based on the recommendation of Glenn Simpson and Peter Fritsch (specialists in economic crime, formerly of the WSJ) and is keen to see this information come to light prior to November 8," Kavalec wrote. "Orbis undertook the investigation in June of 2016." Steele's firm Orbis was a subcontractor to Fusion GPS, and WSJ refers to The Wall Street Journal.

Everything else in the memo was redacted. The FOIA notes contain this explanation for the redactions: "Classified by FBI on 4/25/2019 Class: SECRET."

Steele implies he was approached directly by the DNC at the suggestion of Glenn Simpson.

The other thing we know is that Wray is not a white hat as he just classified the rest of the email a few days ago. So add this to the list that Trump needs to declassify.

Maybe approached by DNC's law firm (Perkin & Coie) to add additional legal protection?

Maybe. Since the rest is redacted there could be a clarification or additional identifying information. Maybe we'll know in 25 years.

It means the GOP has built-in campaign material against their Dem opponents in the House in 2020. They will be voting to hold Barr in contempt of Congress for not breaking the law.

Barr is complying with the law. He now is also complying with an assertion of executive privilege.

The senate should demand the house turn over something they lawfully can't, then find the house in contempt of the Senate, just for grins.

Did some GOP members vote to hold Barr in contempt? Or are the house committees set up to be not near 50/50?

Not really. The House Judiciary committee needs to initiate litigation regarding assertion of executive privilege.

The problem they have is that the DC Circuit recently held that under current law, disclosure of grand jury information is strictly verboten. So Barr was left with the choice of breaking the law or pissing off some democrats in the house.
