Actually, the prosecution is headed by U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, Jessie Liu. He would have made the call on the change of sentencing request.

And all for misleading statements to the FBI that the agents themselves believed were inadvertently made, and over something his business partners were found not guilty of, and for much less consequential false or misleading statements than several senior current and former FBI and DOJ officials have recently made to federal investigators.

The FBI laundered gossip from the Primary Subsource "word of mouth and hearsay", "conversation that [he/she] had with friends over beers" & statements made in "jest" as verified intel in a FISA application, & the FISC bought it. The FBI would never have done that unless they knew from experience that there would be no serious scrutiny of their thesis.

Rapier108 is right. The constant expectation of prison time for some of these culprits is futile. At this point, even formal charges affirming everything at least for the public might be surprising. Best can really expect is a cleaning house in a way somewhat similar to the Toricelli one back in the 70's after another round of agency abuses (even though that was overdone -- so not a good thing) The Democratic Party is no less corrupt than the Russians they constantly demonize while making side deals with China.

Saw that yesterday, and couldn't understand why there wasn't more news about it, until I saw Barrett's name attached. As far as I'm concerned, Barrett's all in (as if he wasn't before), but possibly has his job on the line if Durham finds severely unscrupulous behavior that even WAPO wouldn't tolerate.

Due to the fact that WAPO management could sneak into the WH and record all private conversations with impunity says a lot, so we'll see what happens.

Well that's a different problem entirely. Massive voter fraud. All the people can do is try to vote---but whatever can be demanded about making the process more secure should be. Voter ID is arguably the least example.
