Interesting read about ISIS.

Supposedly ISIS has not doubled down after they have been denied being involved in something but this time they are doubling, tripling down.

I think there's a gun deal or sting gone wrong here. We've heard there were 47 guns in the room. Why have we only seen pics do 4, maybe 5 of those guns? Could it be that the rest were nicely packed in a case for convenient transport or display?
Every report has said 21 or 23 (I think 23 is the latter figure) in the hotel room; the rest at his home, unless there is a new report that just came out.
My bad. I stand corrected. There were 23 guns in his hotel room. Still, no pictures of all those weapons. Why?
This is the part I don't get. If he really was planning on making an escape, why would he have 23 guns in his room (unless he was planning on leaving all or most of them)? Seems like it would be much easier to make a getaway with 1 or 2 than with 23.

Also, doing something like this in a hotel room under your own actual name would kinda be like being in a hit and run and leaving your license plate behind. They're going to know who did it, and they will find you.
He had plenty more back at his place and we have no idea if he had a storage shed somewhere.

Without knowing what guns he had... He probably had different scenarios played out. If he planned to escape, he likely only planned to take a couple and leave the rest.

He busted out two windows, so you figure he had 2 setups with at least 2 guns each ready to go. He probably had one ready for the door and a couple hand guns, if trouble arose. That's 7, right there.

Some uncertainty about range and knowing guns can jam.

I'm no gun expert, but there has been plenty of talk about how converting a semi-auto to auto can destroy the gun. If you are droppping 100 rounds quickly... what does that do to the gun?

Regarding the name... his father was a bank robber who escaped from prison and lived on the run for 10 years in Oregon. It would not be very difficult for him to have fled the country. If he claimed $5M in 2015... you have to believe he has more money elsewhere.. If he did launder the $5M in order to live off of it, he likely has additional cash off-the-books.

Anyone who thinks the FBI runs guns and/or a fast and furious operation in the states needs to ban themselves from the internet. After the ATF blowback they are not that dumb.

Also, it would never happen in a 32nd floor in a Vegas suite.

The FBI is primarily concerned with terrorism these days. With the FBI looming like this, I would eventually expect ISIS, Filipino related terrorism, antifa, or good ol' home grown terrorism ala McVeigh.

This is the type scenario I believe is closest to the truth.
It makes a whole lot more sense than a 65 year old real estate millionaire just deciding to shoot up a bunch of people for no reason. I don't know what happened, but if the result of this investigation is that he had no motive and he's just a psycho, I will know they're hiding something. The excessive amount of guns and him only shooting for 9-10 minutes makes zero sense to me.
To answer the last sentence it lasts only nine minutes because he was probably dead.
I know this. So why did he shoot himself? Brings an entire arsenal, sets up this elaborate plan and chickens out 9 minutes in? If he's just some psycho, that doesn't add up.

He probably assumed after his altercation with the guard thay they were about to assault hiS room not realizing how far out SWAT was.

He may have also had a sudden. 'What have I done' moment.

I believe the former and doubt the latter but neither are reaches. Adrenalin must have been overflowing.

When did the staff at MB know something was going on? And why send a guy to a floor with the ruckus outside to check on an open door?

Can you describe the ruckus?

Kinda walked into that one.

It's not if they knew in detail what was going on, but if there are reports of gunfire in the area, I would expect them to protect the tables, cashiers and vaults above guest room doors.

LVMPD said that MB security guard (Jesus, the Hero) was responding because there was "an alarm for a door ajar". Not sure if that was the stairwell door, or the door to Paddock's suite. That's just what was reported in the presser.

yes, but that has nothing to do with them knowing about any "ruckus" outside.

The person who wrote this either had a poor understanding of FinCEN or is being intentionally misleading.

Need to know whether they were FinCEN SARs or FinCEN CTRs before making ANY sort of judgment. Then, if it's a SAR, what the basis is. FinCEN is way broader than terror financing and money laundering.

If it was a CTR, that's almost meaningless given what we already know about this guy.

What good would a prerecorded message do? Some of the exits would have led them closer to fire.

That above quote is pretty stupid. It is likely better that everyone scattered without designated exits. If there were designated exit funnels for an emergency then the attacker would also know and exploit.

Heck him shooting the fuel tanks was likely an attempt to direct panicked concert goers towards him

So here is the setup when they found Paddock's body in left pane.

What position was Paddock in when he shot himself? (His foot is under the Bipod rifle, he is face up and wearing a glove on left hand, from his face pic not shown it looked like a shot into mouth and silver revolver beyond his reach over his head. )
Is he right or left handed?
Why was the suicide revolver over 4' over his head on the ground?
Just odd positioning of things unless scene was changed when SWAT arrived. Maybe SWAT kicked gun from hand?

BTW I think we need to a law to make all murder-suicides into suicide-murders.

The paddock brothers are quite the trio. Looks like crazy runs in the family.

Brother Bruce:

http://m.tmz.com/#2017/10/04/stephen-paddock-brother-bruce-rap-sheet-arson-threats-las-vegas/

Quote:

The younger brother of Stephen Paddock has a rap sheet of a hardened criminal ... light-years different from the brother who slaughtered dozens of innocent people.

Bruce Paddock currently lives in California, but he's led a nomadic life. TMZ has pulled court docs which show he's been a regular in the criminal justice system. Among his arrests ...

-- Criminal threats

-- Arson

-- Vandalism

-- Petty theft

-- Burglary

-- Weed

-- Driving on a suspended license

-- Contempt

It's unclear how many of these resulted in convictions. We know for sure the 57-year-old was convicted of petty theft with a prior, and vandalism. Don't confuse Bruce with Eric, the Paddock brother living in Florida, who's been speaking to the media.

BTW ... Paddock's father was a bank robber who was once on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted List.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/las-vegas-gunman-paddock-brother-threatened-kill-friend-article-1.3543406

Quote:

Cruz told the Daily News and said in court papers that Paddock liked to get high and sold methamphetamine and marijuana. His behavior is "extremely erratic and unpredictable," Cruz claimed.

He also told The News that Bruce Paddock was filled with paranoia and installed hidden cameras in the house and work area, as well as in his car.

"He said he had stuff to make explosives," Cruz said. "He's just a crazy guy. He was getting money from his mother and leaching off the government. He was extremely intelligent, but he was just trash."

In a chilling coincidence, Stephen Paddock possessed explosives in his house and car. He also installed hidden cameras in the hallway and the hotel room he used as a sniper's nest Sunday in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
