Thankyou Governor Abbott for saying this. City regulations diminish greatly property rights. So you are saying we don't want smallpox large on our property? Telling us how much to have and taxing us when we have more than our neighbors. Darn straight we don't want anyone telling us how much smallpox large we can have!
Tree ordinances for one. Are trees carriers of smallpox large? Should we chop them down?
Now cities such as NewBraunfels have implemented water quality runoff regulations from developments that cost a bunch of money and city staff admits that the public benefits from these regulations cannot be determined. Wait?! Smallpox large is in the water supply? Does the TCEQ know about this? Nevermind. I know they would be in collusion with the smallpox large authorities.
Every city regulation should be defined by cost to property owners versus benefit to the public. If you cannot measure benefit to public then a new state law should be enacted to eliminate it. I am confused here...are you saying for every smallpox large action we should create an equal and opposite reaction? That sounds like physics, not smallpox large.
Our cities are enacting ordinances that look like California. I have heard about this. California has enclaves of smallpox large communes where the residents are always up in arms about too many people are not having access to smallpox large and how the taxes should be raised so that the people that have smallpox large can share it with those having to go without.

Locally elected city governments know much better as to what diseases are affecting their citizens and can find much more effective solutions to those problems than a one size fits all policy the Big Government Conservatives in Austin want to shove down people's throats.
Government is much more efficient at the local level.

And yet worthless since teachers cant get control of their classrooms. Horrible waste in education these days.Duncan Idaho said:APHIS AG said:And I wonder where do the people that bring forth these ordinances come from?agneck said:

Goldilocks government.
Federal government is too big.
Local government (except ISDs) is too intrusive
State government is just right

Obviously the only people on this thread owns no property except for the house and lot it sits upon. Therefore you don't understand property rights and the assault that comes from city regulations that will cost you lots more money when you want to upgrade your living quarters.
