It is appointed unto men once to die. When a person dies that is not "in" Christ, they go to a place called hell. There they are tormented day and night in the flame.

Then they are brought forth unto the resurrection of damnation. They are delivered up to the Great White Throne Judgment. The books are opened, including the Book of Life. They are judged according to those things that are written in the books. They are judged according to their works.

The Bible never mentions that there is any singing or praising at this judgment. The Bible does not mention any rewards being given at this judgment. It is the judgment of condemnation—the judgment of the damned.

Jesus Christ shall judge.

The heart is searched. Every work is brought into judgment. Every secret thing is revealed. Nothing is hid. Nothing shall be covered. Everything shall be revealed. Every secret word that was spoken in darkness shall be heard. Every word that was spoken, even in closets, shall be proclaimed. Every idle (or careless) word that was spoken they shall render account for it.

Many will try to justify themselves, but their iniquity shall condemn them. Even the rust of their gold and silver shall be a witness against them.

The Word shall judge each person.

This is the Judgment to AVOID. What must I do to avoid this judgment? "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved". Acts 16:31

So, Judgement is like a free pass day out of hell? It seems to me that if you're already in Hell, why do they need to haul you up to heaven for judgement when they know they're going to ship you right back down to hell?

Millions of little jail busses filled with the damned, hand cuffed and leg cuffed, riding up to heaven for their day in court.

It seems to me that heaven could save an awful lot of time by just sending their official damnations via certified mail.

And why do they have to do all that? Since I don't accept Jesus as my savior, which I'm told is the only criteria for membership into your club, why do they feel the need to spend all that time on my lies in the 3rd grade?

It all seems so wasteful.

Never posted before on this forum.

But I guess in a sense it is really procedural. Since God is just, he will not condemn anyone without a fair trial even if there is no way you could pass mustard. So you are given your trial, and then condemned.

Can I just plead Nolo Contendre and stay in Hell for the day? Maybe I'll be able to get a better spot in the boiling pitch.

One of God's attributes is Justice. There will be a trial - a judgment.

God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Why does their need to be a trial, doesn't this god know already?

muster ag, good point. But perhaps the trial is for all those in heaven to see the wickedness of those being judged and to see God is just.

Is this an opinion pulled out of thin air or based on some sort of 'authoritative' writing? I would think any trial is simply for general amusement and merriment and there is some form of heavenly drinking game associated with the process. If the condemned starts crying, do one shot. If the condemned starts crying and gets down on her knees, you do two shots. And so on...

I think it is because God is absolutely JUST.

God is JUST, and cannot be unfair. 2 Chron. 19:7

His Justice demands that disobedience against His Laws be punished. John 3:36

God is a judge that placed a penalty on sin. Psa. 50:6b, Rom. 6:23

God's Justice is satisfied because of His provision. Jesus Christ paid the penalty (spiritual death). Col. 2:14

Therefore God is:

Just to forgive. Rom. 8:1
Just to condemn. John 3:18

Principle: Grace always precedes judgment. John 3:16, John 3:36

What good would it do for the ones already in to see the wickedness? Would they be tempted to be wicked in heaven? If they were already in heaven, they would already have to believe that their god was just or else they wouldn't be in this religion's happy place.

You get a fair trial in America before you are declared guilty. Why would God do it any different?

So why wouldn't I be able to accept Jesus at the judgement? Assume I've been par-broiling in pitch for a few thousand years, I get to go up to heaven just to be told I'm going back into the deep fryer for all eternity - why can't I get a savior at this point?

God: Nope, it's too late.
Me: Why?
God: It just is.
Me: But I get it now, the whole Jesus savior thing. I really buy the whole spiel.
God: Tough, you should've done that earlier.
Me: If my soul is eternal, why do you judge my stance on one single issue (vis a vis that savior thing) at the rather arbitrary moment of my physical bodies demise and then mete out a punishment infinitely more cruel than the most horrific, sadistic and vicious psychopathic torturing killer on earth ever inflicted on a victim?
God: Because I'm a just loving God.
Me: You keep saying that, but frankly, I'm just not seeing it.

Your system doesn't make much sense to me.

as one stuck somewhere in the middle, I read many of those speaking on behalf of religion and it pushes me away, but reading the non-believers push me towards religion...

So that makes me a pinball bumper on the atheistic side of the table. I'm good with that.

My posts are flippant, and I find so many posters on this board very hard to take seriously, but my feelings are earnest. I would not worship a deity who consigns billions to eternal torture based on one basically insignificant assertion or, lack thereof. It's an overly silly, legalistic approach that smacks to me of nothing more than one more man made attempt to pressure people into joining, and staying, in a man made club.

Darngood - You get a whole lifetime to get it right. It only takes a sincere admission of Christ's sovereignty over you at the end of your life, like what happened to the good thief on the cross.

Isn't that more than fair?
DamnGood'88

Not particularly.

What if - a nice hypothetical - what if, Hitler, the instant he swallowed the cyanide, realizes his mistakes and honestly accepts Jesus as his Savior.

I would not call a God just whom would instantly forgive any and all sins based on a proclamation, no matter how heartfelt and honest.

Karla Faye Tucker put a pickaxe into the back of several people, yet she is strumming a harp in paradise right now. Same system has me being sodomized by flaming bird monsters (if you subscribe to the Boschian version of hell) for all eternity - all because I see all kinds of logical problems with this Christian belief system.

I see no just Christian God.

DG88,

God is also a God of mercy, you seem to overlook that. If God were all about justice NO ONE would stand. Well, Christ would but that's it.
