Merry Christmas to all! "Joy to the world, the Lord is come". May the Prince of Peace be with you and your families!
Interesting that "Joy to the World" was actually written about the second coming of Christ.88Warrior said:

Yep, and we all have our flaws and are mistaken as to some of our beliefs, even Isaac Watts!dermdoc said:
I prefer Christian Isaac Watts. We are all brothers in Christ. Reformed, Catholic, Non Denom, Orthodox, Protestant, etc.
Merry Christmas!

Yet..no one has touched the Romans 9 discussion thread yet. Can't wait.
I am very, very familiar with academia. But in academia one's writing is also supposed to be one's own, with citations to sources that support your factual assertions or to which you must give credit for your ideas.TheGreatEscape said:
Sure. In academia, we always site sources. Haven't you ever written a research paper?

Instead of stating that men like Isaac Watts were off or something like that, validate your claims at your convenience at the above thread link.
Agree. I have published some scientific articles when I taught at the med school. You do not write article's copying and pasting walls of other articles or book's statements.Jabin said:I am very, very familiar with academia. You're not doing that. You're not providing us with your own ideas or syntheses, but rather simply copying and pasting mass quantities of text. In addition, the text you've copied may have footnotes, but you frequently do not provide a link to the source of your mass quotes.
Finally, shorten your posts! Walls of text will not be read by most.
P.S. Most importantly, we're not in academia (by any stretch) on this forum.
I posted the Scriptures mentioned. You inserted words to fit with your theology because of surrounding context I believe.TheGreatEscape said:
I've gone over this with you. And you won't discuss it.
You won't rebuttal by validating your claims with the text itself. If you believed in the sufficiency of Scripture, then you would take the time and respond.
And not all of my responses are that long at all.

Hey, as someone who has reviewed medical articles for decades and run monthly Journal clubs since the 80's, plagerism and bias are not rare.AgLiving06 said:Jabin said:I am very, very familiar with academia. I really rolled up my sleeves in order to understand and follow Covid closely. I've read and tried to understand countless articles from medical journals. One thing I've come away with is how shoddy the research, analysis, and thinking is in the vast majority of medical journal articles. It really shakes my previous unwitting faith in the basis of modern medicine.dermdoc said:Hey, as someone who has reviewed medical articles for decades and run monthly Journal clubs since the 80's, plagerism and bias are not rare.AgLiving06 said:Jabin said:I am very, very familiar with academia. On behalf of the non-Abrahamic faithed people who lurk here, Merry Christmas to all of you!
The Breitenfeld & Lutzen like battles of words you have here have taught me more about Christian Theology and in-practice internal differences than I could possibly ever hope to learn anywhere else.
My genuine hope for everyone here is that we don't let and petty nonsense like politics, cultural wars, and pessimism get in the way of real things like friendship, family, and human connection.
I wish everyone health, success, and happiness today and for all of 2024!
It ist only for the elect, correct?TheGreatEscape said:
