I wonder if they'll have the nerve to try to use financial management issues as the reason to remove him. We all know that it is Strickland's views on cultural issues that is the driving force here. Maybe it was already talked about on this board, but I just read where Pope Francis wrote a hand written letter to Fr. James Martin in regards to a recent conference (Outreach LGBTQ Catholic Ministry Conference).

No doubt about it. This is how it played out with Bishop Daniel Fernandez Torres. He's the one who opposed vaccine mandates, which was not the reason given for why he was asked to resign and then later forcibly replaced.
If so… really hurts.
He is a great man, a solid Bishop, and wonderful community leader.

A group of German bishops hold a synod denouncing church teaching…certainly disputing St Paul 's teaching and they get a slap on the wrist and told to think some more about it. Bishop Strickland upholds church teaching and probably will be fired. Do I have this right?

People are heartbroken over potentially losing their faithful bishop and you think this is the "pastoral" thing to say? That's far more disappointing than any post you've made so far, and that's saying something.
What it seems to me and I hear that some people do not agree- is that this Pope is focused on the pastoral aspect he believes is lacking to move the church into the future. It does not mean that the message is different or that doctrine is wrong.
Welcoming more people to the table of the Lord is always a good thing. What is happening, we now know because of the Synod on Synodality, is that there are groups of people being pushed out.

Seriously. I thought everyone knew this. The younger son repented and the older son was upset by it. Had the younger son shown up and said "I'm sorry for none of it now let me back in", I don't see the same ending to the parable coming to fruition.
