I would be curious for them and the dude who wrote the Benedict Option to read each others books and do a panel...then we would have some interesting socialist constructs.

You're crazy. The hammer looks more like a sickle than the pickaxe. The pickaxe doesn't look even a little bit like a sickle. They are similar in that both tools are curved. That is the only similarity.

Trying to claim that's a sickle and therefore represents communism reminds me of the people from the flat earth documentary who thought PatriCIA was a clue that Patricia was in the CIA. It's that dumb.

That didn't cross my mind, but it's the perfect comparison.

I do think it being a curved tool is what led to his confusion. Perhaps they should have gone with a hammer and pliers.

This thread perfectly represents an interesting internet forum phenomenon I read about a couple of years ago.

Everyone posts as if they are down at the local bar having a conversation, yet everyone reads other posts as if they were reading a scientific journal.

So the poster in question imagines himself having a casual conversation with friends over a beer and saying "come on man, just look at it, it's a hammer and sickle!" He obviously doesn't mean that it is literally a hammer and sickle, but that it is designed to "recreate" the style of the hammer and sickle.

Side note: I don't think the authors had anything to do with the design, that is some graphic design firm that thought they came up with a clever design.

I couldn't have possibly hedged that more and you went straight to calling me crazy.

I see how someone looking for it can stretch that it could be an artistic evolution meant to subtly suggest communist imagery.

That may be the case, but the poster did think it was a serious pushing of communism, which is a enormous stretch based on that cover design.

That makes me think of many an AP English writing prompt. I can read anything into anything if I rry hard enough and I have enough pen and paper to illustrate the point

I like the firing type guns better.

For beating things, I prefer baseball bats, newspapers or wet noodles, depending on seriousness of the altercation.
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms … disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes… . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”

My current thought about guns is they are like lawyers. I need the good ones to fend off the bad ones.

Didn't Jesus' men carry daggers? What's the diff between that and a gun....aside from the fact that that was basically the CC gun of the time???
