Beating Guns: Hope for People Who Are Weary of Violence
This book, by Shane Claiborne and Mike Martin (RAWtools founder) is being released tomorrow. I was sent an advanced copy, and just finished it. Wanted to get word out because it really is a fantastic read. It looks at the gun issue from an Isaiah 2:4 perspective, obviously. Discusses the history and culture of guns in American society, and is almost entirely focused on Kingdom solutions to the problems we see today. They are not anarchist, so there are some references to "commonsense gun reforms", but it's clearly not the purpose behind the book. Even when they do talk about enacting such reforms, it's always after the disclaimer that laws won't change hearts.
Regardless of where one stands on the political aspect of the issue, I think you'll find much in this book to agree with. There was a lot of information, especially regarding the history of the gun industry in America, that I had never known so it was helpful in that regard.
