The point of that incident with the rich, young ruler isn't to say salvation is works-based. Jesus knew his heart and that even though he said, "Teacher, I have kept all these things from my youth up.", his obedience was not grounded in faith.Doc Daneeka said:

That's how it's known they "loved the darkness". It's because their works were evil that we know they loved darkness. Their fruits were evil, therefore we know they loved darkness.Doc Daneeka said:
