Why would god listen to the prayer of someone who willfully wastes the mind he was given?

I clearly stated the ones that have committed the unforgivable sin are a lost cause. I also explained what made of that sin.

On the "unforgivable" sin: https://www.biblegateway.com/blog/2012/10/what-is-the-unforgivable-sin/

Another link on this sin that some here love to flippantly accuse others of: http://www.gotquestions.org/unpardonable-sin.html

Context is important. If someone has committed an unforgivable sin, that's not something we can truly know. Only God knows that. So to sit there and proudly proclaim how one will not even "waste" their time praying for people because they believe others committed this sin is not remotely Christian.

From the link you posted clearly states exactly what I said. I also stated everyone in here knows God. therefore to those who know God and willingly reject the gift of the Holy Spirit is the unforgivable sin.
You twisted my words which doesn't surprise me about you at all.

This is not what you are saying:

quote:
The only unpardonable sin today is that of continued unbelief. There is no pardon for a person who dies in unbelief.

You want to have bad theology, fine (and yes, I know you believe my "theology" is bad as well). All I ask is that you stop being so angry and hateful towards others. That's certainly not Christian. Saying you won't pray for people is certainly not Christian. If Christ can pray for His murderers on the cross, certainly you can pray for nonbelievers now, even the ones that believe in evolution.

Unpardonable sin is like incurable cancer. You don't necessarily know until the person is dead.

From reading that link it appears that the "unforgivable sin" is rejecting the Holy Spirit, and it appears to be a lifelong decision rather than a particular instance of committing the "unforgivable sin". So in other words it aligns perfectly with the Christian faith: Reject God, never repent, go to hell.

At least, that's how I read it. I suppose some think that once you reject the Holy Spirit with your words once you can never come to Christ? Seems to be putting a severe limitation on God's ability to forgive.

What I find more alarming is the attitude I've seen across several threads (by one person in particular) that seem to indicate either feeling neutral, or in some cases smug, about the belief that other posters are going to spend eternity burning in hell. If such a place exists, I would be overcome with anxiety over the notion of anyone going there. I definitely wouldn't take any sort of mental comfort in the idea.

It's a fact that there is an unpardonable sin. If a person dies without repenting, they were not pardoned.

Ok. That's more acceptable than what winags is saying, that if you reject God once, you are forever damned, which is the basis for all his condemnation
To give him credit, there are warnings in the Bible to not do this as it is "impossible to restore them again to repentance." So it's not a light path to walk down. Of course what is impossible with man is possible with God.

This has always occured to me. How could I be joyous for eternity if I knew one of my immediate family members was in that other place for eternity?

Agreed. I have seen many in my life that seem to take this attitude. It's almost as if they are just looking forward to people getting what they deserve. It's a perverse mindset.

But some good news. We're no longer talking about aliens hiding dinosaur bones around the planet in some grand intergalactic game to screw with humans.

That's not really a sin though. If you're sitting there being unrepentant, you haven't committed the unforgivable sin, but when you die, you do? So what is the actual sin that's unforgivable? Dying?

Also, the sin is described as blaspheming the Holy Spirit. I doubt anyone's death can be considered blasphemy.
I'd say it's a particular sin - receiving the truth and rejecting it. Similar to Heb. 10:26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.

After rejecting the truth after having received it, it becomes impossible to return. Like many atheists here. I've never met an atheist who grew up a Christian who returned to the faith. NOT to say it's impossible, God may have mercy (why I pray for you). I'm sure there are several that have returned. But there's something that happens mentally and spiritually that corrupts the soul against Christ, the Bible, the church, etc.

It seems like none of you christians can ever agree... even people who on the surface are from similar backgrounds. Could it be because none of you are actually in contact with the all seeing eye? Surely if there was some dialogue people would generally be on the same page... But no...

I have similar thoughts as you but I can think of a few people that I would like to believe will end up in hell.

Nobody that disagreed with me on Texags though.

There probably isn't anybody that deserves to be tortured for eternity. But sometimes I can't help myself.

and everyone thought it was only Good News.

God loved us so much he gave his son and he expects us not to sin, he really hates sin. The more you pray, the less you sin. I pray constantly and still sin but less and less.

I apologize for those who misunderstand my writings, I will pray for the stupid......but not the ones that know God and has rejected him, they are hell bound by choice. I find no pleasure in their final destination but it is a choice.

Matthew 7

quote:
Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

Got news for you...You ain't going to Christian heaven.

Go read up a little bit on the Islamic State and what they are doing, right now, in Mosul and Raqqah (specifically).

There are individuals in that group that deserve eternal torture.
