My theory is that behavior modernity developed with the invention of beer / wine
Things certainly advanced a lot faster in the last 12 to 8k years.

If you look at the formation of the most ancient civilizations, almost all of them were formed around the same time as the civilization started producing alcohol.

The assyrians had beer from basically the beginning. The Incan's had a chocolate alcohol drink. Aztecs had pulque. Early China had wine.

Native North Americans seem to have missed this boat, but most of the largest tribes had other intoxicants that were important to their way of life. Also interesting is the relative lack of advanced scientific learning that occurred in North America compared to every other inhabited continent.

If you think about it, most hunter/gatherer groups stayed relatively small, in part due to infighting between dominant males. If there is one thing that history has taught us, it is that access to beer is a goal that is likely to make men work together. Add to that the stability required for harvesting a field, and the female proclivity to stability, and, in my opinion, alcohol is the only ingredient that is required to align everyone's motives to work together and form a larger society.

I truly do believe that beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

I do not.

Given the amount of bio-diversity on Earth I can't reconcile the logistics of all animals two-by-two fitting in the ark.

I can't believe people who attended A&M even entertain such thoughts and stories from the bible - especially this one. I shouldn't be surprised... it is in Texas and it is A&M. haha

Matt 11:25

God enjoys hiding the truth from condescending smart asses. (paraphrasing)

Yup, god just deliberately deceived thinking mankind by making all the evidence say there was no flood, local or global.

And deliberate deception by physical evidence is not what that verse is trying to convey anyway.

Some of you non believers have such a condescending tone on this board. I guess it is because you are so much smarter than everyone else and it gets kinda lonely not having an equal to talk with.

I suggest Charity work for the masses, may ease the pain and help mankind at the same time.

What does the Bible say about irony? I would suggest you find that passage and memorize it.

Mark 4. Jesus hid his message in parables because if he spoke plainly people would understand, turn and be forgiven. Are there other ways God might hide the truth?

Just trying to help you out. You spend hundreds of hours here arguing and you may be getting played.

Why would God need to hide the truth?

If a human did the same thing they would be destroyed by public opinion.

To the original topic of believing the great flood story:
No. How many millions of species are there? or at least were there at the supposed time of the flood, across all of the world. Did Noah have a teleportation device to get the animals from other continents? What about animals he may have been unaware of? Its an impossible task for a man of that time period.

What is peculiar is that many other cultures (that existed before Noah supposedly did) have similar accounts of a great flood. Maybe something resembling a large regional flood happened in the far past, and this was a re-telling of it......but the idea that the entire earth was under water, and noah gathered every species on earth onto an arc is not something I believe.

Yes, because it prefigured the cross. Those who rejected the warning were destroyed. Those who believed entered into the Ark, a type of Christ, were saved through the flood. Believers saved. Unbelievers destroyed. The Ark was lifted to the top of Mt Ararat which signifies our resurrection with Christ. The cross was real and the events in the Old Testament which prefigure it are also true. The Red Sea event in Exodus 14 is another example

How many types of human (and animal) mitochondrial DNA were on the Arc ? That question alone disproves the story?

The Red Sea event didn't happen either.

Think about nutting things....are we are not on a rock that is spinning around a rock that is literally on fire?
Start thinking about how that works.

Now we got these crazy scientist who built the biggest machine ever created by mankind looking for a 3rd dimensions and dark matter. Of course their symbol is the Goddess of Destruction. Google CERN and it blows your mind include Abyss in your search and you will find some really scary stuff

But everything is cool, we are fine not believing in a God. Heck, we evolved from apes that evolved from fish?

The old testament says the 7 year tribulation starts the day Israel and Palestine signs a peace treaty. You tell me what is going on with Obama and BiBi in current times. A treaty will be signed by Sept.

I've been on the other side of WinAgs random, goofball bets. I'll take the bet....nothing of consequence will be signed by Sept. And 7 years from now earth will still be here, and we'll all be fine (in relative terms).

And I'm a Christian saying that.

Do I believe I live on a spinning rock circling a ball of fire? What else are you suggesting?

Slieve,
I will take that bet, PM me the terms. Obama wants a 2 state solution before his term ends. France wants a tentative agreement by June. Either BiBi agrees or Obama will use the UN to get what he wants. I suggest you go to the main stream media and get caught up on actual events.

As far as the hocus pocus that is currently going on (CERN), I really don't know what to believe but it is scary stuff.

What hocus pocus at CERN? Do you even know what a particle accelerator is?

This

And you DO realize that many many scientific discovery's we have in place today were made with people in the wings saying "oooohhhh.....don't do that......you're messing with something God wouldn't like!!!!"

The/a particle accelerator isn't going to end the world in any Biblical way. Pull your head out from under a rock.
