rwilson was a classic poster on the rivalries board. he was known for unalduterated selfownership. and yeah i'm still with the same girl i've been with for quite a while.

well good for you, she's a nice girl...as far as old hayden owning himself...i'm not sure you make can make a strong case for any of the other arguements on this thread.

The simple fact is, the festival lineup has no standouts and was announced very late in the game, therefore the attendence will more than likely be subpar.

I'm not sure how it turned into an pissing contest about marketing and promotion.

As far as I can tell the only statements I've made in this thread are:

1) OAR would have no problem selling out any venue in College Station (save for Reed Arena) if marketed properly to, among others, the frat/sorority crowd.

Which I've yet to see be proven wrong. The only repsonse I've seen from the guys "in the know" are "How many concerts have you booked in CS?" -- which I take as a response someone gives when they don't have a valid response.

how bout this: you put the money up to book them, i'll book them and promote the hell out of it and see if it sells out. if it does, we both win, b/c i make money, you get yours back and get your cookie for being right.

given your track record 00, I don't think that would be a very good investment on his part.

Aggie's actually promoted some very successful shows in College Station.

This thread is hilarious and fits texags to a tee: three guys with massive experience telling another that a show has an uncertain draw. One guy with ZERO experience telling those guys they are stupid, inept, and have no idea what they are talking about. Even going so far as to flat out say that they don't and haven't done a good job.

Well when these music industry experts say they ask 10 of their "music savvy" friends and only one of them has heard of OAR, you start questioning how good this information actually is

For the record the only thing I ever took exception to in this thread was that OAR had an "uncertain draw" for Northgate Music Festival. Which is completely untrue. They may be far too expensive, but there is not "uncertain draw" -- they would pack any regular NMF venue.

I also said that I bet Widespread Panic would too, which was apparently proven wrong by an attempt to bring them here 10 years ago so it must still hold true today

Like I said -- I'm not doubting a band like OAR is too expensive or might not pack a venue like Reed Arena, but they would without a doubt pack any regular NMF venue. That's the only thing I ever argued, the rest is you two just rambling amongst yourselves.

LUDO's very good, Ethan Durelle put out one of the best shows from last year's festival, South FM always have alot of energy for their shows, Astoria Arms is another good set, The Feds put on a great show, Greatness in Tragedy are some festival veterans, Minority is great, and Flickerstick is good if you're still into their music.

Ludo's tracks on their site did not impress me at all, is it something I need to catch live to appreciate or was what I heard pretty much all that they bring to the table?

i've been kind of out of the loop for a while as far as local music goes. are there any local people worth seeing? i live here in cs and i've never heard of 90% of these bands. any help?
