How long do you want to ignore this user?
(Don't read if you haven't seen the movie or book)

Q1. Do the tripods run on human blood, or were they trying some type of transfusion to cure the bacteria? This is assuming they knew the germs were affecting them.
Q2. I don't understand what all the red veins are that cover the ground everywhere the tripods have been. Is this what the aliens home is like?
Q3. When the aliens come into the old basement after scouting it with the camera arm thing, is there a purpose for them coming down there or are they just curious about our way of life?

I figured they needed the iron in our blood's hemoglobin for the red veins to utilize in making Earth's soil more like that of Mars which is red from the iron oxide it contains.

They were just checking out the basement.

Gig 'em, FAST FRED '65.

Before the world wide web, village idiots usually stayed in their own village.

That's a pretty interesting theory on the iron, and I always figured they were scoping out the basement looking for people who were hiding, to harvest them as well.

I read the book last summer but the red veins are just a red plant that the Martians were planting.

I believe in the book, they ate humans but in the movie, it looked like they were using us as fertilizer. (just saw the movie tonight).

Thanks for answering my questions. I liked your theory FAST FRED.

I'm not usually one to scrutinize little things like that in movies, but I was just curious because it seemed kinda random.
