Ep 4 Lost and Found is another excellent episode. So well written and acted. Can't wait to read y'all's reaction to it.

Very very good episode. It's my favorite show that I'm streaming right now. I just wish they'd drop all the episodes at once. The writing and the acting is so well done.

I wish the seasons were longer. 6 episodes is not enough.

Best episode of the season. I really like the casting of Coe.

The casting is damn near perfect. I only started reading the books after season 1, so I could only ever see Oldman as Lamb, KST as Taverner, Lowden as River, The actor for Roddy, etc. I wouldn't change a single one. The characters introduced in later seasons/books, like Flyte and Coe and Shirley are still damn near how they are written/how I imagined them too which is so fun. Most books to film/screen adaptations leave a lot to be desired IMO (like tom cruise as reacher), but this show feels almost straight off the page.

For the book readers do you recommend just starting with book one, or skip around etc. I've seen every episode of the show and I don't mind repeat but interested in your opinion.

I would definitely recommend reading the books in order. I would also recommend reading the novellas Herron wrote as well. He sandwiched those in between some of the books and they're fun short reads that introduce new additions to Slough House and give their backstories.

This. Definitely read in order. While the majority of the books are mostly self contained, Herron plants seeds that sprout in later books. And there are the machinations of people like Judd that span throughout that I think you'd be a little lost on if you jumped around

Damn what a great episode. Love me some Emma Flyte. Lamb and the kid. Lady Di is such a **** (but KST plays her brilliantly). Shirley may be my spirit animal and gives zero ****s. Going for the booze and wanting to trash the Taverners place was on brand. RIP Coe

Tonight's episode just felt completely silly. I know it's a television show and it's not going to be 100% realistic. But tonight's episode just felt over the top dumb to me. Such a disappointment for what I had come to expect from this show.

Interesting....my reaction to this episode 5 Sayonara is the exact opposite. Thought it was fantastic. And yes the airport sequence was unrealistic.

I really enjoyed it, but yeah I know what you mean regarding the final scene.

Still really enjoying the season though...I wish that next week wasn't the end.

This is a great point. It's well made and the writing is great - but add a really really good cast across the board and it all comes together so well.

First, genuinely enjoyed the episode. Didn't have too much of a problem with the airport scene (which is a show creation) but I get the criticisms too. I fully expect some of the threads to linger until next season, more so than in seasons past. There are so many changes from the books I can only vaguely think where they are going with some of it but even knowing what I know, I can only guess along with everyone else (I'd love to discuss all that after next week). But I definitely agree that 6 episodes isn't enough. Not bc I feel they are GoT-ing it, but more bc I just want more time with the crew.

I wish they'd stayed with the books. I don't think any of the changes have improved the story line.

Agreed but based on what the producers have said, they felt like they needed to combine bc one didn't offer enough story for them to make a full season with. Not sure I agree with that considering how short this season is anyway but thinking about it, Joe Country really doesn't give a couple main characters a lot to do(namely Taverner), so I can see that being an issue when you have some of these big actors (which does make it ironic considering how I think this season will end, but I won't get into that spoilery speculation yet out of respect for show watchers). I think there was also some of the potential production issues (like a snowstorm in Wales) and the "royal scandal" subject matter that they may not have wanted to touch.

Be that as it may, if you saw the recent casting news, looks like we may get a few of the anticipated un-introduced characters that may necessitate them touching on some of the stuff they skipped from the books Joe Country and Slough House in the next season. So we may get some of that stuff eventually

Damn, what an episode. As soon as the phone call was made to Frank, I knew what he would probably do(book change), and I loved it when it happened. He's still a ******* but Weaving is awesome in the role. I also love that many of the deaths just happen, a quick headshot or center mass, and not this super long drawn out John wick type ****, and those that don't die get pretty ****ed up. Obviously a lot of changes from the books but I thought they brought it all together to where it's supposed to end up. No complaints (other than I need season 7 yesterday). Oh, I need more Horse on Dog violence. River just giving the two dogs **** in the Range Rover was hilarious. Also, right there after when Lamb is being Lamb with River, but then completely changes his tone when River tells him "it's just me now" was really well done and acted .

RIP Emma. I wish we could have gotten the her and Louisa bonding from the books. Made it more of a gut punch. And gave more character development for Louisa who battles the guilt of Louisa losing both a love, Min, and a real friend in Emma(who in the books, has to be convinced by Louisa to come help). But I also thought they did a good job foreshadowing the novochok poisoning, where it wasn't over the top obvious.

Outstanding and yes I want S7 now. Trying to guess what happened to River, was Sidonie in on it -- tying the Russians into this is interesting, River and Lamb are the two best characters on the show

it was the Russians, Not Sid. In the early episode they showed the assassins with the Novochok poison in Rivers house, remember Jim was gloving up and took it out of a sealed protective bag, we just didn't see explicitly where he put it.**edit: I went back and watched this part of the prior episode, and Jim takes out the poison, pans around, with the camera zooming/lingering on the crow bar. Nice bit of foreshadowing. ** In the book, it wasn't placed on the crow bar, but on the front door handle of the home.

Can we discuss...well...tactics from the final episode?

Leave the house only to hole up in a shanty that traps you and provide no cover and little concealment. Or the drainage pipe that has a dead end?

Either of which is discoverable with a simple walk on the beach?

I've loved the series but between this and in Ep. 5 River's dropping Sid at the end of the runway and then IMMEDIATELY turning around and driving back to the pursuers and giving himself up so that Sid literally (not figuratively, literally) is given the least amount of time to get away is the kind of stupid that can take you out of a show.

There's a ton of these kind of situations throughout the show, but for whatever reason they just don't really bother me that much. Maybe because the show is more character driven.

A recurring trope in these shows is: good guy kills or incapacitates a bad guy and:

A. Runs away and does not finish off bad guy.

B. Does not take bad guys superior weapon and then finishes off bad guy.

( anyone watch The Gentleman, episode 7? There good guys actually procured bad guys superior weapons.)

Maybe that's why they are Slow Horses - that and hiding in the most obvious places…

Spoiler ahead:

So, River got the poison on his hand from the Russians? Me and my smart wife whiffed on that. We thought he just had a stroke.

Guess we'd make good Slow Horses!

-It's a very bingeable show, but it feels like most of the episodes are just people being chased around. The last episode was just sloppy. I guess I can see how they can churn these out so fast.

-Hugo Weaving's manner of speaking is so bizarre in this. He drags out words like he did with Agent Smith. It's mildly annoying.

-The expressionless, emotionless assassins roaming around the arcade reminded me of Terminator 2.

-I really disliked the dwarf character.

This was the first time where them doing stupid things bothered me. Get out of the house after surviving a fire fight… only to get in poorly protected shelters like 100 yards from where you just were? Was that like a "hey we don't want to drag our cameras any farther let's have them stop at the beach?"

Pretty good season but kinda ended with a wimper.

How were the assassins able to track them to the arcade? None of them had their phones and they were in Coe's car?
