I believe Holland is out of contract for future Spidey movies at this point, though he's obviously going to be included in the upcoming event.

He's also very clearly said that he and Zendaya will be done with Hollywood at some point and just move on to quietly living their lives and raising a family, no idea what that timetable is.

And I'd have to think that the Miles ownership issue has already been contractually handled, my guess would be it was more a "hey we want the runway to do up to 3 SpiderVerse films, give us X years after that before a Miles live action MCU character introduction" type conversation.

I think I've heard the same thing about Holland's MCU contract after this movie and Doomsday/Secret Wars. And that's a perfect time to transition to a new Spidey. This is just my thoughts, but with that easy layup scenario to transition Holland out and a new actor in, plus the success and acclaim of the animated SpiderVerse movies, you would want to capitalize on that and not wait too long after release of the last SpiderVerse movie to bring Morales into the MCU.

They're going to offer Holland too much money for him to not return.

He's just too good, and it's making too much money.

Tom is 5'8", he needs to ride the Marvel bus as long as possible. I really don't see him being a leading man long-term outside of marvel.

Holland isn't currently signed for another stand-alone Spider-Man movie, but in the wake of how massive this one was, I bet that changes soon. So, yeah, I would guess two more stand-alone entires, post Secret Wars, for two total trilogies, then he finally hangs up the suit for good.


There's no way there won't be at least one more solo Spider-Man movie with Holland post-Secret Wars - Holland and Sony head Tom Rothman have both said as much in the past few days - and again, my guess is they ultimately make it a second trilogy. So a fifth Holland Spider-Man movie in, say, 2029/2030, then perhaps a final one after that, circa 2032/2033 or so.

At which point Holland has straight up said recently that they already have an idea / plan in place to hand the franchise off to Miles Morales in live action.

If I'm Rothman/Pascal, I offer Holland $25M today for another, with an option on one more.

And I don't believe he wouldn't take it, as it's been shown he could do other stuff at the same time (why Macguire backed out.)

Agreed. Exactly.

Holland will likely shoot his Secret Wars part this fall, then will get to do his Fred Astaire biopic starting in January, then by the time that's done there will be a draft for the next Spider-Man movie, and he can develop that while he maybe does something small, then he'll be ready to shoot Spidey in 2028/2029, rinse and repeat. One for them, a couple for him, one for them, a couple for him, everyone's rich, everyone's happy.

I've always liked Holland's spidey, but I think in this latest movie he finally really became Peter Parker. And we finally have an adult Peter/Spidey (just needs to ditch Michelle Jones Watson and find Mary Jane Watson). So, I'm totally okay with him continuing in a movie or two after secret wars. And Holland still looks so young he can pull it off.

I'm not even sure his agents aren't bickering over getting first dollar gross.

Hell, 0.5%, which would not be unreasonable, if you do $1.5B+ again, is $75M.

That's definitely what I'd be doing right now. And it's not even crazy.

Hell, Robert Downey Jr was getting 5% first dollar gross for Iron Man/Avengers.

They won't do that again. But 0.5% is nothing comparatively. And a sht-ton of money.

Saw this last night, Laser IMAX. Absolutely loved it. I'm not a big movie guy (I'm so exhausted from work most of the time, that if I do go see a movie, I usually fall asleep)

This movie was visually stunning, Incredible action scenes. Loved the story as well. And this is coming from someone who couldn't remember why Ned and MJ didn't know Peter. I had to lean over and ask my son…..(oh yeah….I remember that now)

My son was the one who wanted to see it, and he loved it as well.

Very much enjoyed this one. Ultimately, I'm happy getting back to no multiverse stuff or massive galactic battles with beings from other worlds.

I also hadn't watched any trailers, so had no idea the villain was Jean until the reveal. The entire first part of the movie, I was wracking my brain for a villain I knew that had this power.

All the cameo characters were well handled and didn't distract from the main plot or character arc of Spidey, which I appreciated.

I think this is also Holland's best performance as Spidey. Both in Peter Parker form and when wearing the mask. Loved his bantering when the Frank joins the fight with the Hulk where he's telling him this fight is so far out of his league. And then he calls him out a few minutes later for not wanting to fight the Hulk. No bravado there, from the Punisher.

Does anyone think that by almost killing Peter, Frank will give up his crusade? Oh, and does anyone also wonder if the Staten Island reference will have anything to do with Punisher's recent short on Disney Plus? Or is that going to be something Marvel tells in a comic?

Saw the movie last night, just read this thread, and I want to call out how much I loved the scene where Peter invites Jean inside his mind - excellent "checkmate" move! - so Aunt May can save the day by giving Jean the "Uncle Ben" parenting moment she never got from her own mother who kicked her and big sis to the curb once they got their powers.

The older I get, the more I adore scenes where love, thoughtfulness, empathy, etc. are game-changers.

That was a great scene.

Saw this last night and it was great. I will have to see it again to decide if I can rank it ahead of No Way Home but man it was good.

Sadie Sink, the little redhead from Brenham, was outstanding.

Usually a lot more than that, in most instances it's easier to just totally replace the suit.

Good example of this is the time travel suits in Endgame that were totally digital with just the actors' faces tracked with them. Spidey is even more likely to be totally replaced with a digital double since there's no face visible.

Great summer blockbuster popcorn movie.

I also hope this generates more Punisher stuff.

Castle seemed like an odd mix with Parker going in, but it worked.

I loved this movie.

I really liked that it wasn't just a smash 'em up Superhero movie, but had a really good story as the primary attraction. Tom Holland does such a good job of emotions...one scene is a tear-jerker, and then he's cracking you up with a funny or awkward line.

Might be my favorite Spidey film.

Saw it this last weekend and really enjoyed it. Helped that I did a Spidey marathon a couple days before so everything was fresh in my mind. Might be my favorite spiderman movie.

Not worth the risk, I'd think. Assuming Holland wasn't a hard no.

Jumping from Tom Holland to [un-named] makes no sense coming off the biggest box office I can remember.
