I could have sworn they already said this was a new trilogy

Holland isn't technically signed for anymore solo Spider-Man movies, and Holland + Tom Rothman (the head of Sony) have only recently said a fifth solo movie is happening, just not anytime soon. Maybe someone at some point said something about wanting a new trilogy, but it hasn't been officially named as part of any plans so far.

I don't know how successful a Miles Morales focused live action Spiderman will do. The Spiderverse movies just feel so different from a standard Spiderman movie, to me. I wouldn't see me loving them as much if they weren't animated. The animation and what is possible with animation is really one of the biggest reasons I think those movies are so special.

ETA: Granted, audiences may just be ready for something that isn't a rehashing of the Peter Parker mythos, so who's to say.

Is there something lore-wise that precludes the simultaneous existence of the Holland Spiderman and the Miles Morales Spiderman?

Nothing lore-wise that I know of, it just sounds like they don't want to have two live-action Spider-Man franchises running at the same time.

If we're talking two more Holland solo Spider-Man movies, none of this would happen until, like, 2032 at the earliest, if not 2034 or so, and then the first Miles movie wouldn't happen until the mid-to-late-2030s. Even if only one more Holland Spider-Man movie, it'd be another six or seven years or so from now until Miles has his own movie.

There's a variety of stories with them working both together and solo in the comics, they could spin that pretty much any way they wanted (no pun intended).

I think TC's observation of not wanting two Spider-Man franchises is the simple answer there.

No matter which direction they choose to go, my favorite Spiderman will always be Jake Johnson.

During the fight with the Hand, he flipped to the ceiling and was fighting from there.

I can't remember seeing that previously. Lots of stuff from the walls or falling debris or crawling on the ceiling but I can't remember seeing everything become inverted and still fighting

My memory is **** on a good day though. I could be wrong.

And yes, the Hand was a strange choice of villain but the red robes were more visually appealing than the usual bad guy attire.

That guy was shown alive and well during the end credits. And plus people get hit by cars like that all the time in real life with a significant percentage actually surviving.

Lol, Ok, lets assume he did survive...that completely erases the intent behind her making him step into traffic? And everything else she did? So, if you're not successful in trying to kill someone, or if you put someone in extreme danger and gravely harm them but they luckily survive, then you're innocent of any charges?

Or we can simply agree that Marvel and the screenwriters were playing very loosely with morality in this movie. Its no big deal, just a comic book movie in a cinematic universe that's been playing loose with morality for a while now. It was still an enjoyable movie.

That dude dead

Here are some thoughts... the movie isn't just about Peter. Jean (who I keep wanting to call Max) is an angry kid who is pushing the limits of right and wrong to get what she wants (or fighting to save her sister). Insert the Punisher, who literally kills every problem in his way. In his attempt to kill Jean, Peter demonstrates what kind of hero he is and it kind of opens a different world for Jean. Peter fights for what is right without threatening anyone's life. Jean was fighting for her version of right, but going about things in a punisher-esque way. Peter's actions help her think about a different way.

Now, how she gets out of the place and away from any consequences is fair, although her power probably gives her a way to "hide" from observation. I suppose one can argue she has to live with guilt, and maybe that's part of her character in a future xmen movie

Gotcha, no offense, I just see a lot of people excusing what she did because supposedly no one died. As far as her arc, I would have liked to see her face some actual consequences at the end of the movie but if they show it in the next movie then I'll be satisfied.
