-Holland is the perfect Peter Parker/Spiderman (And I like Maguire and Garfield). But he just nails it.
-Set pieces were gorgeous, as expected.
-Script was an absolute mess. I barely understood what was going on half the time. My 11yo, who this should be targeting, would have no idea what was going on.

I don't think the target audience was 11 year olds. The target audience was those who saw CA and Homecoming when they were 11-yo...making them 20-year olds today. It was one of these, "connection," movies. A lot of us have become a fan or connected to the Tom Holland Spidey, along with MJ and Ned. It was an emotional movie dealing with loss and uncontrollable outcomes/circumstances.
I thought it was well done. I am not sure I can label it the best...maybe 3rd, behind Toby's #2 and FFH. However I am 52 so my opinion is different than the youngins that didn't grow up with Toby and Andrew. Anyhow, I thought it was good, entertaining, and hit the mark for being an enjoyable movie experience.
Both of my teenage boys hated it. They felt it had no real story. Nothing ever really happened. It was a character building movie. They did not enjoy it. Frank was an idiot. Spidey was too emotional. Jean was boring. The villain, the leader of The Ministry of The Defense Against the Dark Arts, was a terrible actor. etc. etc. etc. The one thing they loved was Hulk! Angry Hulk is back!!!

Honestly I don't get the script complaint. The plot was fairly straightforward this time around. Especially after NWH.

I enjoyed the movie.

What this did well
- Visually, it was awesome. Sound was cool too.. not something I usually notice.
- Best Spider-Man action / fights by far
- Wasn't silly and chasing laughs
- All the new and returning characters worked for me.
- Tom was awesome. He's the best SM by far.
- Felt 20-30 too long.
- Leaned into the sad, miss my friends a little too much. Meaning they could have cut or shorten those scenes and still go the same point across.
- Didn't high awesome highs like NWH
- Not a good or bad thing, but this was the most adult feeling SM movie yet.
The final spiderverse movie cant get here soon enough.

My 11 year old and I enjoyed this morning. He's currently looking up fan theories for the next movie.
EDIT: Had a bit of a Matrix vibe to it, which is probably why I liked it so much.

Really enjoyed this one - definitely felt the most mature Spider-Man movie I can think of. I also liked getting a bit of a unique origin story with these new powers - which ironically I was happy they skipped in the first movie.
Honestly, I've enjoyed the hell out of this collection of movies. They've done a great job weaving a story and none of them feel like a big miss where a lot of the other marvel movies with sequels or trilogies where there was a glaring bad movie in the bunch. (Ala Thor 2)

I'm not much for super hero movies anymore, but my 12 year old and I have seen the last 2 together and he asked a few weeks ago to go see this. I enjoyed it, much more so than the last one. It was just a bit too long. He liked it.
My daughter and I enjoyed it. I probably didn't like it as much as the first two, but definitely more than the third movie. I liked the more adult themes in this one, and I liked the Punisher character and actor quite a lot. The Jean Gray revelation caught me by surprise largely because I didn't pay any attention to this movie before today. So I guess this is the X-Men introduction to the MCU?
Son and I enjoyed it. Milchik is so good at the charming, nice-seeming middle manager type that is secretly evil. The bits with Florence Pugh were fun. It was nice to see a full-force Spiderman. One of the better post-end game entries.

I remember seeing that one but nothing about it registers with me now, like most posr-Endgame movies.
Pretty dang good. I have it right below No Way Home, making it into my top 10 for the MCU.

Saw it last night and loved it! This may actually take the top spot as my favorite Spider-Man film.
I've had a love hate relationship with superhero movies post-Endgame because I don't think a lot of them have been good movies. This is definitely a quality film in my mind and I hope that the MCU can continue to make films like this.

Great action scenes that Cretton brought over from Shang Chi. The prison fight and the finisher was just incredible to look at. Also it felt less bloated since the hand ninjas were DODC. I was worried there was a whole other subplot with them
The opening 4 year montage was exactly what I expected but felt like a perfect tonal set for where Peter's psyche would
I am interested to see where Jean Gray goes. This was a much darker iteration of her. But the final vision of Aunt May should set her up to find her family at the school. The final train scene felt like a train ride to upstate New York
Trammel is an incredible actor
Loved Spideys relationship with the police chief
The final scene with the outpouring of support from NYC was pretty emotional. I am glad they didn't just magically repair his relationship with MJ. Maybe we can get some black cat in the MCU
Hulk fight was awesome. The scene of spidey pulling Frank under a rampaging hulk was fun
Do I think they could have trimmed some of the angst but I didn't mind it. I liked the slower moments personally

Saw it last night at 12:15 a.m. (will never do that again, too old now!), and after thinking on it a little bit...
For now I think Toby's Spider-man 2 is still the gold standard of Spider-man movies. It's still THE best portrayal of the comic book Spider-man world (best Peter Parker, best villain portrayals, etc). And I'm not sure this is even the best technical Holland Spider-man movie if you start to analyze the plot, pacing, etc.
But I do think this is the best (most accurate) Tom Holland version of Spider-man. Its no longer the MCU's version of teen Spidey. We're finally seeing the comic book version of Peter Parker/Spider-man that's made Spidey the top comic book character in the world.
As a Daredevil fan I don't like this *******ized version of The Hand....completely not comic book accurate and pointless overall. Just make up some random special forces group or something similar to use as Damage Control's enforcers for that fight scene (great fight scene, but still hate that they used The Hand for it).

We enjoyed the movie. I am not sure I have ever seen more people flocking to theaters than I did this weekend in San Antonio. I'm really happy to see that.

Yes but to me that is different than saying the memories aren't there. Could the memories be there but the magic blocked them so to MJ they are not accessible?
My point is that I think there is a way around this eventually if they want her to remember. It would involve Jean having lied to Peter when she occupied MJ and told him they weren't there.
Just something I had considered, that's all.

This is true, but I imagine the concept is the spell can always be undone.
Hence Ned seemingly remembered at the end. Or thats the impression I got
