If you remember from his trip when he is throwing up in the toilet, the evil spirit of the island shows up, and Tom confesses he'll do "anything" to save his son. So my guess is Season 2 will be the island taking over Tom, his morals, and make him "break bad" almost like Jack Torrance in The Shining.

Really enjoyed this show, but I wish they'd left it as a single season contained story. It certainly didn't tie up all the loose ends, but I thought it did a great job of wrapping up an interesting story.

Agreed they should've had Patricia "end the curse"
in some totally messed up and unbelievably Fargoesque manner.

What a fun show! Hilarious in a down-key way, creepy often enough & a great cast of supporting characters in a beautiful setting.

So many things just hit so well having grown up in a small town.
*The small town people who know everything about everyone & are intertwined in ways "Mainland/City" people can't comprehend.
*The b*tchy local women clique
*The "mainlander" who's lived in the town for decades but is still an outsider.
*Angsty teen bored out of his skull looking for creative ways to entertain himself & just wants to see the world.

Then there is the plot: A deep historical horror stemming from an unknown evil (ala Stephen King). This gets mixed in with stand alone episodes such as the killer clown, the Boogieman, the Sea Hag. Add to this the origin episode and Patricia's party episode similar to Season 2 of True Blood.... you never know quite where the heck the show is going but every episode is a very fun ride.

What's happening next season? My guess:
*We dig into the old projector reels to unravel how they used to deal with the island (Dharma Initiative was a good callback) with a flashback episode.
*2-3 more monsters of the week
*The son figures out who he is, gets possessed at some point perhaps.
*Patricia deals with the fallout from tasing the *****y local woman

I for one am glad they didn't wrap it all up. The characters are too great & they have a lot of backstory to uncover. I look forward to a fun ride.

Had to go find this thread, just finished the penultimate episode and what a freakin' show.

I'm not a big horror fan but throughly enjoying this one, the humor is great and I love the mystery they're slowly unraveling. We're getting a bit of Lost mixed in with the horror with great performances all around.

I had kinda called the geneology result, but I liked the fakeout they gave us in getting there. The reveals of the town's very questionable history in the film reels is super interesting as well.

Planning to watch the finale tonight and excited that they've greenlit s2.

I may end up watching it again. This series pretty much checks every box for me.
