My first thought was the miners made contact with another silo but I'm not sure they could keep that quiet. Maybe they're just using the bulbs for illumination down in the mines.

I'm 5 episodes into season three, and my gut is starting to tell me that the series finale for this show is gonna be straight doo-doo.

I think the only way the silo has been anchored in time in any way at all was the miner who talked about the tunnels in the town hall at the beginning of the season.

In the pre-episode recap, the mystery of Orla Kent's death and Knox's father was as prominent as the rest of the plot lines, maybe more so. Of all the mundane supplies that could be stolen, "light bulbs" is very oddly specific. The miners extending the mine shafts makes a lot of sense.

I had a similar thought, but I'm not really sure what the extent of the memory wipe would be, and how much actually has to be relearned. Going back to the lightbulbs, could a memory wipe explain a gap in time and subsequent inventory discrepancy. Were the lightbulbs previously used prior to a whole silo memory wipe? I don't know if that would account for the empty boxes but it's hard to explain sixty-eight years worth of missing lightbulbs.

My reasoning about other silos was really about how the investigation was dragging on and thought it might be a full season storyline that would wrap up near the end and bridge kind of into the next phase of the show. I'm assuming there will be some silo to silo interaction in the end-game, at least with silo 1. Also, that many light bulbs, that would have to be some serious tunneling, or perhaps another silo or structure all together.

Maybe I'm overthinking the amount of light bulbs and where they would have to go at that scale and it was more a plot device to force Camille to get onboard with fighting silo 1 b/c they are all going to die anyways if they just toe the line.

I also may have missed something but was the implication of that video that there's two of someone or that the tape had been tampered with?

The one of the old/new shadow of supply going from the mines to supply in 10 mins? I'm not really sure they gave enough information to imply anything other than something odd was going on. I took it as the miners have an elevator of some sort somewhere, but could be what you suggested as well.

So I love this show, obviously, but that end-of-the-world-club dinner was absolutely wild. On several levels.

Yeah, they seemed to blow it off as a hypothetical concern like we would today, but in their timeline they had a "dirty bomb", Charlottes adversarial encounter, proof demonstration on them to where they thought they might die. Then they just up and leave like the others were tin-foil hat conspiracy theorists. That didn't quite make sense.

That's exactly it. We spend plenty of screen time going down whether or not charlotte's team was plan A or plan B, a point that to the audience is not particularly important. I guess we care about Charlotte a little but she's like the 35th most important person on this show. But no screen time explaining what kind of "nanotech" we're actually talking about here.

crazy ending

Great episode!

I have not enjoyed all of the changes they have made from the books to the show, but man I will say one that they nailed is Bernard. The show version of Bernard was so much better than the book version, and I love he got a redemption arc. Tim Robbins crushed this character.

The reveal at the end was pretty cool to see. The slow sense of buildup and dread to that final hit was great. Making Helen pregnant in the show also makes the split up of her and Daniel so much more devastating and adds more to their characters

I do think it's hilarious that they dropped in that AI wrote the pact and they tweaked it. That makes it so much funnier.

Great episode. It really flew by. One more to go...

1. Agreed that Tim Robbins nailed the character and what a way to go.
2. Anyone else thinking how convenient the timing of the bomb when they were having the tours and they were all there, and the suspicious way the aid to Per, Henry was acting. It is like they knew it was coming.
3. The voice in the loudspeaker sounded like the voice in the secret room in the present day silo where the IT Heads get the orders from.

They for sure knew. Not 100% the senator knew since she seemed to be genuinely practicing her speech, but seemed like everyone else from her camp was; so would be a little surprised if she wasn't.

The bigger question for me, is did they do it or just aware it was going to happen.

So something I've been thinking about since S3:E8 is that it was mentioned that a no fly zone was established over the silos and it reminded me of a similar line from M. Night Shyamalan's The Village. Between that and the references to The Wizard of Oz is it possible that this is just some giant multi-generational social experiment of an eccentric billionaire and the rest of the world is functioning as normal? Sure we saw a mushroom cloud/explosion but I'm still not convinced there was a nuclear holocaust.

And, how was the rest of the entire world exposed to a single nuclear bomb? And, how has the aftermath persisted for so long? Has it actually been that long ago or did they immediately erase memories and it's really been like 30 years or so?
