First, happy we got some of the nutjob point plays tonight, including Coach's non-threatening injury, two misspellings at Tribal Council, and Ozzy giving away his advantage.
But I won't sugar coat it. If you had Savannah as one of your 5 picks, you lost a lot ground tonight. She had +2 for the reward, -1 for the Immunity, and then a hellacious -8 as she was voted off before the merge (-5) and with an advantage in her pocket (-3) for a draining total score of -7.

Here's the new standings after Episode 2. I'm available for autographs all night. Episode point breakdown is after the standings. As mentioned in a previous post, shoutout to RudyJax for generating the most points tonight with 13.5.

Episode 2 Points Breakdown

Reward Challenge:
Cila finishes first: +2 for Christian, Cirie, Emily, Joe, Ozzy, Rick, Savannah
Kalo finishes second: +1 for Charlie, Chrissy, Coach, Dee, Jonathan, Kamila, Mike, Tiff
Vatu finishes third: -1 for Angelina, Aubry, Colby, Genieve, Q, Rizo, Stephenie

Coach suffers an injury outside of a challenge that doesn't eliminate him from the game: -1

Christian finds a hidden immunity idol: +3
Christian sends it to Aubry, thus making Aubry find the HII: +3

Immunity Challenge:
Vatu
finishes first: +2 for Angelina, Aubry, Colby, Genieve, Q, Rizo, Stephenie
Kalo finishes second: +1 for Charlie, Chrissy, Coach, Dee, Jonathan, Kamila, Mike, Tiff
Cila finishes third: -1 for Christian, Cirie, Emily, Joe, Ozzy, Rick, Savannah

Some dummy named Ozzy gives Cirie his advantage before Tribal Council: Ozzy -2; Cirie +2

At Tribal Council, Joe and Cirie each spelled Savannah's name wrong: -1. Savana? Seriously, Joe?

Savannah is voted out:
Before the merge: -5
With an advantage in her pocket: -3

Surviving tribal +0.5 points for Christian, Cirie, Emily, Joe, Ozzy, Rick

Not entirely sure what Devens is doing planting the idol at TC. Does he want to pull it out (TWSS) at a later tribal or does he want someone from another tribe to find it?

I'm also super excited that in additional to the tribe swap next week, it looks like someone takes a shot to the noggin while blindfolded during a challenge - looks sort of like Rizo on the preview - which is a solid 1 point deduction.

More observations tomorrow.

I was glad to see Savannah go. Never did like her last season. My wife and I got behind at the end and when I found out she won we skipped the last regular episode and the finale. The only reason she won is that she was the benificiary of some terrible game play and flat out blind luck. Fake as a three dollar bill.

The players this year are way too good to let her slip through. Glad they sniffed her out and gave her the boot.

I also found it interesting coincidence that the first two voted out were from the first and last seasons of the show.

I think Devens and Christian plan to use the fake idol at a future tribal to strum up Chaos. It is put in a secret enough location that I do not think anyone outside of them has a chance to find it. I think they will go up and get it before votes one time and then use that fake idol to throw a wrench in everyone else's plan. I think it is BOLD and would love to see it work... but I don't feel confident they will be able to pull it off

My other notes from Episode 2:

Really felt for Kamila when she realized Kyle was gone. I don't find her super likable, but they were so tight that it must have really hurt.

Coach with the worst job ever of reading the room by airing his dirty laundry with Ozzy when they're talking about Kyle leaving the game was vintage Coach.

Mike and Emily - the two most unlikely people to master a balance beam in human history during the reward challenge.

Colby and Stephenie's job carrying the giant snake and making up so much time was really inspiring. Colby was 51 when they filmedand Stephenie was 45. I know Colby was really dismayed in his physical play the last time he was on Survivor, and Stephenie is about as fit as a woman can get. It was like a commercial for "old school physical fitness".

I'm starting to think Tiff isn't actually on this season and they're just CGI-ing old footage of her. She didn't talk to the camera again.

The sharting scene aside, I just love Christian and think I'll be heartbroken if/when he gets voted out. He's a perfect role model for smart kids to get out in the world and just be themselves.

Savannah drew a bad hand and made it worse by lying about the advantage. Hindsight being 20/20, she should have pulled Joe aside and told him about the block a vote or even given it to him and said she wanted to play the loyalty game since she obviously recognized his style of play.

God help us if honorable Joe and honorable Coach end up on the same tribe after this swap.

Every future season of Survivor should have Jonathan as a living hidden advantage that tribes can unlock to use in pre-merge challenges. I thought he was just going to jump from one part of the water challenge to the other when he did his dive that got him 80% of the way there.

So few people dive in those challenges. i thought perhaps they were told they couldn't for safety.

Ozzie and Jonathan were diving.

i grew up in a pool and barely swim now, but i would dive. Seems so odd.

I was going to go scorched earth on that tribe if they voted Joe out. Devens the way he flipped the **** out at Joe was so ****ing weird if you are an ounce of a normal person, regardless of Survivor. And I liked Devens before. I am kind of in a **** him mode right now.

I've given everyone on the spreadsheet who has Aubry as a pick an extra point for the math error pointed out earlier.

It's a little crazy how many people picked her. I thought I was making an out of left field pick with her early on, but that was not the case. If Aubry, Charlie, and Jonathan get eliminated quickly, 80% of us will be out of the running.

I don't think Savannah stood a chance based on the tribe that she landed in. She wasn't going to break into the nerds alliance or the old school alliance. Probably pretty tough mentally/physically to go right back out there.

I think that's a fair point. Especially since she was the only winner on the tribe.

Exactly. A lot working against her:

- other players didn't get to watch her season
- winner
- a bit of a tough personality.
- pre set alliances that she didn't fit neatly into

I didn't understand the Joe v Devens spat. I'm not sure how Devens ends up spinning it to where Joe is made out to be the bad guy. Devens was the one who directly lied to Joes face, got caught, and then tells everyone that Joe is hard to work with. Joe is one of the most predictable players in the game. The whole thing just felt weird.

If you are in Joes position what would you have done? Address it head on with the person or use it as leverage to vote him off.

it really made Devens look awkward and borderline unlikable, which I hated, because I love that guy. I think he's intimidated by the kind of person/player Joe is - very honorable, very transparent, very black and white, not wanting to have a 15-minute chat when he can ask a direction question in 15 seconds.

Joe doesn't seem like he wants to goof around for an hour talking about proper Vulcan hand gestures. But the real problem seemed like Devens was unprepared to spin a story of why Savannah whispered to him before he went to talk to Joe or unprepared to just tell him the truth, "She wants to do a 4 person alliance of you, me, her, and whoever, but I don't trust her for X reasons."

While Joe's game has some big flaws in it - as exposed by Kyle/Kamilia in 48 - if the tribe swap put him in the right company of players, he could really make a run to the merge, at which point he's one of the strongest individual people out there. If he stumbles into a new tribe with Jonathan/Coach or Colby/Stephenie, the "honor code' could get him a long way.

I don't know why he just didn't tell Joe that and lie that he's on board with it. So odd.

Joe has such a predictable game play regardless of if you like him or not. It's way easier to play around that type of player than a scheming type.

Episode Points Recap

I made the judgement call before the season that only "Jeff" and "Mr. Jeff" were allowable as names to all our dear host, so Dee takes a double shot of -2 for calling him "Jeffery" twice during the episode.

I had to rewatch Chrissy's meltdown to see if it fit in with the "You have a breakdown about how unfair life is .." category, but she was crying about something that happened in game, and saying she didn't cry because of her cancer, so no points subtracted there.

In the challenge, Charlie, Colby, Devens, and Rizzo each lose a point for taking a body shot (not the good kind) while blindfolded. I laughed pretty hard at Colby's. I don't feel good about it, but it was serious blast.

The new Cila wins the challenge, giving +2 to Charile, Rizo, Jonathan, Devens, Cirie, Kamilla, Dee
The new Kalo finishes second, giving +1 to Aubry, Joe, Coach, Geneviee, Chrissy, Colby, Tiff
The new Vatu finishes third, giving -1 point to Christian, Emily, Stephenie, Angelina, Mike, Ozzy, Q

At tribal, Q goes home before the merge for a -5 (sorry, Counterpoint, rough 2 weeks for you), while everyone else earns 0.5 points back for surviving tribal: Christian, Emily, Stephenie, Angelina, Mike, Ozzy

Many funny moments, but they'll have to wait for the morning. Please let me know if your score or anything else doesn't look correct.
