Yes they made it clear and pretty much outright said that Link (now we know his real name is Dylan) is her son. He's 26, has the same birthday, and the same name as her son. Also his name is Link. Like a link between realities or timelines or whatever.

And then the note that someone sent back in time for the Circuit City guy to try and stop or warn about pyscho Jane.

And Xavier's weird visions.

I'm pretty sure thats what Billy was acquiring when they had a flashback of him going to the bar and talking to the scientist whos wife had a terminal illness. Getting his invention, likely some sort of time machine esque thing, that he developed to save his wife. Which will now be used for their own uses of going back before all the problems of the modern world happened. Which is likely what they've named Alex.

A random message coming from unknown sources stating that a killer was born at an exact time, maybe?!??!??

I guess. It's flimsy though imo. Maybe it will be proved completely correct.

But that's also kind of the plot of Harry Potter.

The message wasn't explicitly about Jane. It just said a killer would be born on that day and time. The man makes the message about Jane by going to that hospital and finding Jane. If he goes to another hospital, then it's potentially another person who is the "killer?"

I took that to be less about time travel, and more about what happened when the mother believes that and treats Jane horrible, which helps to create the killer she became.

Personally I'd be pretty bummed if they went the time traveler route, but guess we will find out next week.

This season is great! Sad that Shailene Arm Bush died but the Atlanta story line is cool

Agree, not 100% time travel but could allude to it.

What is with the incessant resonance used in this show? Like constant sonic pressure/beats. Close to zero scenes just have normal sound without this nonsense.

There are a lot of scenes hinting about supernatural or divine situations. Several "we're here for a reason" scenes that I think will be revealed in season 3.

Seriously? You can't possibly be including the primary cast, right?

Agree, the acting is the clear strength of this show. Three roles got Emmy nods.

The teenagers? Ok maybe...but that's almost to be expected.

Watched the birth episode in the diner last night; if that is bad acting then IDFK anymore. Wife and I choked up for a good 10 minutes; amazing performances.

Rather than time travel it could be alternate dimensions. The nose bleeds representing a comingling of dimensions or an unnatural change.

The nosebleed comment makes me think of Michael Crichton's fantastic novel (horrible movie) Timeline. Moving b/w the dimensions creates script errors at the atomic / molecular level, leading to various ailments in people who've traveled too much.

Edit: My memory of Timeline is very old, so I may have some of the details tweaked.

Agreed, that was a powerful scene.

We've commented every episode lately that the writing and acting is really good for most of the characters.

Some of the acting is lacking. I am not a fan of Xavier's daughter.

I think there's a lot of cringe acting, but the leads are solid for sure. Any scene with Jane is eye-rollingly bad. The writing around her character is more of the problem though I think.

This season has been a trudge to me, compared to the first which really sucked me in. I think they're getting "lost" in the uber-emotional moments with the music cues and all the characters being so dramatic, which is weird to type out when talking about a drama, lol.

I think Alex is some sort of artificial intelligence that's able to cross dimensions

I think its some sort of quantum entanglement device that allow you to change time either via alternate universes or something. The nosebleeds are a side-effect when someone has been affected by such a change.

Yeah, the wife and I agree, Alex is a machine but we believe it's related to dimensional travel rather than time travel. Or perhaps, like a poster above brought up regarding Michael Criton's novel Timeline, it's dimensional travel that basically acts like time travel.

We're still watching for now, but i'm not sure if i'm going to be on board for a show about dimensional time travel when the whole first season pointed to this being a completely different type of show (i.e. a political murder mystery with 20 different layers).

The writing is decent but not great. A little too lazy at times. They rely a little too much on cliches and dumb actions by characters as a way to advance the plot rather than write a smart way. And they definitely rely too much on sound and music as a crutch....the constant pulsing drumbeat to create tension...ending every episode with a slowed down almost accoustic cover song. It's gotten tiresome.

Nosebleeds being a symptom of something catastrophic in TV drives me nuts. I get parents all the time worried about their kid's Nosebleeds being a sign of coming catastrophe and wanting testing done. Kids pick their noses and get Nosebleeds it is really common.

Anyway just a pet peeve for me.
