From the Cynthia Ann Parker angle, there was a Tom Hanks movie that came out during Covid, very limited run in the theater, called News Of The World.

Toms character went around from town to town reading the news to folks that couldn't read during the reconstruction era of Texas. Ends up with a little blonde/german girl that had been kidnapped by the Indians & very much wanted to go back.

The movie puts a much happier ending on it than the true story of Cynthia Ann, but its still a pretty good movie.

To me, Cynthia Ann Parker makes no sense. She saw and remembered the indians killing her entire family. How she could mentally dismiss that and side with her family's murderers is beyond me. I guess it's some sort of trauma based mental illness, super severe case of Stockholm syndrome, or something.

In this show, an ADULT captive siding with them makes even less sense then that. Granted that that this show didn't have the indians gang rape her (which often happened), it still makes no sense. Who in their right mind would side with somebody who just killed and tortured their family in front of them?

It happened a lot, even as far back as Benjamin Franklins time, he wrote about it as well. Almost all captives, that survived long enough to become part of their society wanted to stay. Very few left the Indians willingly, unless they were rescued in pretty short order.

I can see this more with kids. Which is probably why they kept kidnapping children and raping/killing adults.
