the wolves scene still bugs me. I've turned so many folks onto this show, but I always throw that wolves scene caveat in there. What a braindead piece of writing that portion was. It was the only LOL moment in the whole series.

You know what bugs me? The wanted posters for the woman. They look like they were copied en masse at the kinkos.
Again, I enjoyed this show but could have been significantly improved if, as other posters have mentioned:
-ending; cheesy, predictable, lazy
-no woman chief
-wolves scene
-Devin took massive blows to the head from both the French and the horse; he's either dead or a veggie
-Devin gets his leg snapped in half and by what seems like a couple of weeks later is walking around
-wanted poster looks AI generated

badass show, but man, there was some low hanging fruit for making it less cheesy

Yes, premise was to cease the spreading infection - but with the application of heat, they no longer considered amputation and he was nearly immediately healed. The little indian girl was worth her weight in gold.
I finished it. I really wanted to like it, but it was just to over the top all the time. The action and violence lost it's punch when they couldn't go 5 minutes without some violence happening. Wish they had just done another season of Godless. Thought it was much better.
Finished it last night. Had to watch it solo as the girlfriend won't watch something that violent.
Good show, interesting to read up on some of the actual history in that region/era.
This land is your land/My Land was an interesting choice of music.
And yes, a red hot knife on a wound will cure anything....

3 episodes in. I like most of it so far. Definitely love the period, cinematography, mood, and casting is good. The story hasn't grabbed me, plot points feel week in and predictable in several areas. But I do love being taken back in time without out all the goofy sugar coating. I'm enjoying the ride, and extra credit if the plot ends up playing a bigger part in the journey.

Peter Berg (the film maker that made American Primevil) is on the most recent Joe Rogan show. They spend a good portion of the first half of the show discussing the history what really happened, how they made the show, Berg's interactions with the modern day LDS etc.
They discuss it more towards the end. Even when they aren't discussing Primevil, its worth the listen.

Peter Berg does a good job of researching the subjects and making things as real as he can. He did Lone Survivor, and the time he put into learning about each guy involved and training the actors to look and act like SEALs was impressive.
