Holland needs to disappear for a few years and jump into some indie projects that have him completely out of his element. Pull a Pattinson and come back much better.

I too find him too one-dimensional. Hell, the guy doesn't even really have too different of a haircut in each of his movies. He needs a role that is a complete 180. Granted, he may just not have the same acting chops, similar to his wife.

Holland is next starring as Fred Astaire in a Fred Astaire biopic/musical, from the director of Paddington and Wonka. Dude can certainly dance, looks the part, and will be good hands, so it'll be interesting to see how it shakes out.

Holland and Zendaya movies just made 2 billion in about a month. Is there any duo in history that have done that? Even adjusting for inflation that seems crazy.

I have 2 teenage daughters and Tom Holland is super popular in our house.

I felt like I adapted pretty quickly to the language, with only a couple of times being a little jarring (Holland saying mom and dad just felt off. Feel like a prince would definitely say mother and father even in modern times)

Don't think we have anyone in their teens in here, probably not many early 20s either. Think I saw an interview where he stated that was a part of how we settled on more modern language style

Quick math and limited research tells me "mother" is 2700 years newer than the time the Odyssey is set in while "mom" is 3000 years newer. So I guess it doesn't matter to me, both are wildly anachronistic.

Might have quoted the wrong person here, I see your point about how a prince would talk. My point still stands though!

Watched the movie on IMAX yesterday evening.

It held my attention the entire 2 hrs & 42 minutes even though I have ADHDTV.

I enjoyed it very much.

I might go see it again in another format.

Which of the 128 pages on this thread is actual legitimate discussion of the movie, and not about politics and "woke-ism"? Saw it tonight and would legitimately be interested in honest discussion about the storylines and characters, having never read the Odyssey or the Iliad.

Just got out of a 10:40 showing in 70mm.

Good Nolan work. Not his best. Not sure how many times I'll rewatch it but it was good.

The political messaging got a little too heavy for me in the final Act but whatevs. Nolan continues to make visually pleasing movies.
